Lost Momentum
I've had every iteration of this pack since 2011 (wow, 7 years of Osprey) and feel they've lost their original purpose over time.

The original, my favourite - was a proper business pack. Foldaway shoulder straps and a side handle in subtle grey.
You could go from your bike, tidy it up, and carry it into a meeting room and not look like you were holding a ball of flapping straps.

The top shoulder strap tensioners were proper nylon instead of elastic cord that wears out quickly.

Later versions improved the back panel by converting to airscape, but lost the collapsible straps and more businesslike design.

Compression straps mean it can be totally filled with heavy shopping one day, then squash down and not annoy passengers by bumping them on a train the next.

Drop the elastic from everywhere on the outside, bring back the packaway straps, and the side carry handle. Keep the superb organisation and laptop/hydration.

Lose all the detailing, keep it almost formal. Put the lid-lock back up on the top. Keep the pouch in the shoulder straps, maybe add another.

Bring back the back-panel clips on the rain cover. The cheaper elastic version comes off in high wind and nearly got me hit by a car.

I've been buying Osprey for three-quarters of a decade so far. I'd be happy to listen to the Design Team and provide constructive feedback.

Versatile Tardis of a rucksack
Having read the other tw reviews on this site, I found them a little niggly and unfair.
In my experience this pack has so many well thought out compartments and uses that i have recommended it to several other similar users. The various compartments are very versatile:
- the labtop space has become the default for electronic equipment or items I'll feel least through the cushioning,
- the bottom zipped compartment is used for carrying trainers to the gym and worn clothes bag in a poly bag;
- the zipped pocket on the lower rear of pack keeps my gym padlock,
- the upper zipped mini pocket has room for spare headphones, glasses cloth, spare batteries, and phone
- The front zipped compartment has a variety of zipped and open pockets that I can squirrel either fitness, photography or cycling gear with ease, along with notes or a paper,
- The main comparment will take enough clothes for a long weekend or a reasonable daily shop at the supermarket,
The weight never seems to be loaded in one place, the waterproof cover is a quick on and off where needed. The helmet clip is in the best place if you are changing modes of transport, on top could make it too heavy, although, I would like two clips as I often carry things for two of us cycling. then both can have hands free.

Good, but could be better.
I am quite happy with the bag, but at the same time i do have some "complaints". First off, when bicycling, it stays on good, and doesn't really feel that heavy on the back even loaded with stuff. And i do like that i can fit quite a lot of stuff. However, for some reason, when just carrying it normally, it doesn't feel that comfortable like i would have liked, and that is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

I don't have that much to compare with, but i would absolutely recommend it as a backpack for when going on bicycle rides to and from work for example.

god bag but some design oversights
There is a metal zip inside the laptop sleeve (for a smaller pocket) which almost gauged a scratch across my laptop. I would not have been happy if it had.
Helmet clip is a good idea but puts the helmet on the back which just gets in the way, i.e. in shops and on packed trains. Probably great in the country. I think it needs to sit on top. Loose, long straps. Top shoulder adjustment elastic sticks out 10cm. My back is cooler using a courier style bag but that maybe just my back.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hello Tim,

We appreciate your feedback and I will be passing it on. However, the stretch Load Lifters on this pack can be adjusted; please refer to the product videos. As for the placement of the LidLock and the internal zip, we will get this looked into.
