Escapist 32

Single track mind. If after a hard day's ride, the end of the trail is still blissfully unknown then you share our 'single-track' mind. This spirit of adventure is captured by the versatility of our Escapist series. Whether you're riding 100+ miles or commuting to work, the AirScape™ backpanel provides you with complete ventilation and support. Decided that today you're going to tackle some downhill? When you're thrashing those fast descents you'll appreciate how the Biostretch™ hipbelt and harness keep the pack cinched comfortably to your back. The Escapist's twin zippered hipbelt pockets mean you can quickly grab trail essentials on the go and firmly attach your helmet with Lidlock™. Keep your phone and sunglasses to hand with the scratch-free pockets in the harness and main compartment. The best rides inevitably result in dirty gear, store it separately with the Escapist's internal zipped divider. Keeping yourself hydrated when riding hard is absolutely key, with quick access to the external hydration sleeve you can easily refill your reservoir. When you're out riding over multiple days, you'll need to carry enough kit. InsideOut™ compression and PowerMesh™ stretch pockets allow you to securely transport all your gear no matter how rutted the track you're riding gets. An internal organiser means you can easily sort your tools, spares and pumps. Even when the weather turns for the worst, the built in high visibility raincover deploys quickly to protect your pack and all of your gear. Keep yourself visible in low light with reflective graphics and blinker light attachment.

A few tweaks and this would be perfect
I use this bag for a daily cycle commute into London on the "Boris" bikes. So in the spirit of constructive feedback 3 points I would like to make 1) the belt zipped pocket needs to be moved further around in order to easily zip keys and fob safely 2) the phone pocket on strap is too tight to take current iphone or the bigger XS Max 3) It would be really helpful to have a pocket for tablet or lap top inside .

Being able to carry bike helmet externally is a big plus

I like the bag but we need a more commuter friendly version . Hope this helps . David

Made for biking but works for practically anything
I first bought Escapist 25 and after some time I realized It couldn't swallow the amount of Equipment I needed, so I got the Escapist 32 as well.
Perfect size for me on everyday bicycle commute to work carrying two Changes of clothes for after biking and one set for the gym training at lunch.
I receantly came back from a hiking trip in Italy along the Amalfi coast and Capri where I had the bag as main hiking pack.
I packed Everything I needed with ease as well as 6,5 liters of water, no problem. We hiked from 12-20Km per day and it worked perfectly well.
I really like it because it is soft in the lower region not hard like my Stratos 50 where I need to pack a Heavy load. This enabled us to smoothly navigate up the goatpaths of the
Mountains as well as high grass and thick forest.
This must be the most complete bag I have ever had.

So close to perfect
Ive had this bag for a few months now and absolutely love it. I use it to commute (cycle) to work every day. I also take a lot of weekend trips to various places and this is a really great size for that. I think the true spirit of this bag is in its name; you should be able to escape with it, which is why it just falls short of perfect. My one issue with it is that it isn't versatile enough. Sometimes i just need to hook something extra on the outside of the bag, but it doesn't have any reinforced loops like some of the other bags do. Even something as simple as an extra male or female buckle would be great, i could link up my own straps

On a side note i was also a little disappointed by the amount of missed stitches and loose threads. It hasn't affected the structural integrity of the bag, but seeing those right after buying it doesn't strike confidence

excellent
i brought this bag in Feb 2018 and just a few weeks before the snow, during the snow i had it on my back all day and with the rain cover on it keep every thing dry. every weekend i cycle 25 miles and 5 miles some week days with the bag on my back it is very comfortable. inside i am able to carry tools and overnight gear. at night the rain cover is very bright and florescent but without it the bag still has reflective strips so can still be seen. overall it is the best all round bag.

GReat bag
I have had this bag now for around 4 weeks; i cycle 10miles to work each day and this bag is great. It has a great capacity - so big enough for shirt, lunch, laptop, running kit and more without anything getting too crushed or crumpled; also a handy space for tools (pump, tyre leavers, spare tube etc); the main compartment can be zipped into 2 so there is also space for cycling overshoes and other water proof stuff. Also there is plenty of space for groceries on the way home. I have traveled to london with it as an overnight bag and again there is plenty of space for change of clothing and running stuff. But the great thing about this sack is the load distribution - irrespective of how much stuff i jam into it, it is a surprisingly comfortable bag to wear and cycle with and in no way restricts my movements - easy to turn my head to check and see what traffic is coming up and so on. Can't quite get over how good the load distribution is - so much better than my old bag - very clever engineering. The rain cover is fine and on the odd occasion when i have been caught out mid ride in the rain the sack seems fairly water proof also. The only slight draw back is the airmesh at the back which doesn't seem to offer as much ventilation as my old Deuter pack, but that had a rigid frame in it - which was heavier and less comfortable. I expect that when cycling in the summer it will be a warmer affair but this is a small grumble - overall this pack is massively recommended.

Awesome bag
I've had this bag for five years and it's as good as new. Used on 100 mile fully loaded sprints across the South downs and daily 36 mile mtb commutes to work in all weathers. With the cover its waterproof through the heaviest downpour. All zips and buckles have stood the test of time. Best bag I've ever owned....so good I've bought two more for members of my family.
chris
very good bag
gave it a 3 star because of the waterproof cover not being waterproof, i have had this bag for a while now i think over a year now, and i use it daily commuting to work and back, and i must say its a really nice size, also good for going out on a long adventure. how ever i didn't expect the waterproof cover not to be waterproof, when i got home and taken the cover of my bag was wet through not what i expected at all. i did sign up to the life time warranty but not really had time to look into it. over all i love the bag and love using it.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Chris,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review for the Escapist 32.

Some weather conditions require a higher level of protection than a raincover can provide. For these situations, we recommend that the contents of your pack is protected using drysacks or pack-liners. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us here.

Kind regards,

Light and super comfortable
It is very light, and with the range of adjustments you can fit it for yourself perfectly. The backpack carries loads of 10to 20kg comfortably, even bulky stuff. I personally use it daily, and even when shopping groceries- you can load 2 days worth of food for a family of 4! And ride a bike home with it- comfortably! With the compression straps it adjusts to almost any load inside so you can carry it well

The biking details are good, tools, pump, spare tyre etc can be fitted, even the helmet carry lock is usable.
Feels durable, haven't broken anything yet,

i use the bag for daily commuting, day hikes/bike rides with family, and even overnight hikes and bike rides. So far i am very happy with what i bought and since it was on sale i think i got great value for money too

Smaller than expected
When the backback came in the mail it was a little smaller than I espected. There was no retailer in the area (Netherlands), so I couldn't compare with other Osprey backpacks. I did compare the size/liters to other brands like Eastpack.

But the backpack is great, I am planning to use it for daily commuting and small hikes on foot or with a bike. It fits really well after picking the size with the Osprey application. Lots of space. A 15" Macbook fits, but there isn't much space left.

Perfekt für transalp
Fahre jetzt die vierte Woche 1.200km und 21.000 hm und könnte mir keinen besseren Rucksack vorstellen. Leicht , geräumig und. gut zu organisieren. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Perfect for multi-day MTB tours
Used it for a 3-day trek in the Vercors, France and could fit my tent, sleepingbag, clothes, sleeping mat, burner and fuel, couple of cooking pans, food, waterbag and tools in it. Compared to the old model (I have the 25 liter version) it feels different, but is very comfortable on your back. I missed some features from the old version but the extra 2 liters (compared to the 30 liter) are very welcome !
Alex
Excellent choice
Very good backpack. Fits almost everything you would need. From your 15.6' laptop to a proper 3-4 day hiking trip. very adjustable and very spacious!

Malaya
Love this bag!
I was looking for a commuting bag and decided against a suspension system. The combination of Lidlock, panel access, comfortable hip belt and stretch front pocket made it a winner for me. I waited for the new model to come out for the new looks and added capacity (+2l compared to 2014 model).

It performes great, sits really stable on my back and the bag compresses nicely when half-full. The pouch on the left shoulder strap is big enough to fit a Sony Z3 compact, as should it a Iphone 6. The mesh side panels are easy to reach without leaving my riding position. The only letdown are the dangling strap ends, but Osprey has sent loops free of charge to combat those. Great service!
Jakob
Everything is awesome!
This bagpack is everything I could ask for. Plenty of space for my laptop, books and stuff and best of all, my back doesn't need to sweat anymore because it's liftet just enough.
