Used it every day for the past year
(Review based on previous version?)

I’ve used this pack every day for the past year and is lasting well with no signs of wear. I used it for walking most of the time and occasionally cycling. It has 2 non scratch fabric pockets to protect your phone. I am able to cram in many items easily. The main zip is very sturdy and big with the rest of the zips being of a more standard size. The included rain cover works effectively but is removed during the summer to save weight. It has lots of organisational features but could include a purpose bike pump holder which it lacks.

Message for osprey: there is a mysterious zip without a pull on it, near the top of the pack, inside the pocket which is closest to your back - what is it for?

Overall a great pack
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Jim

Thanks for taking the time to write a review for the Radial.

I think you are referring to the Access Zip that is located in the backsystem of some of our packs. This zip is there for manufacturing purposes only and is used to apply tension to the backsystem during production. This is what helps to create AirSpeed and is not intended to be reopened (hence the zip slider is reversed to prevent it being easily opened). Once opened, it can be very difficult to close again.

Nuovo modello

Good but not worth the price
Ok don't get me wrong this is a great looking and well built bag and there seems to be a compartment for everything. My issue is with value for money as it doesn't seem to live up to the price. The bag is very similar to some of the other bags, in fact i think the design inside some of the other bags were nicer and were priced at £55 not £110.

I think this bag is way overpriced, it's a great product but i think maybe aimed at people who have money to waste. When you compare this to other companies i would say it has a slight edge in design and look but at more than double the price of my last bag i can't help but think i have bought a designer bag.

The best pack for bike commuting
First of all: Please excuse my English, I am German :-)

I'm 32 and in the warmer time (from roughly April to around October) I ride my road bike everyday to and from work - total 40 kms.
As I am some sort of a "digital nomad" I carry around all my tech gear - laptop, tablet, smartphone, powerbank, a plethora of cables, headphones, external hard drive and so on.
Also I carry a spare tube, bike tools and a lock.
In addition I have to carry my normal clothes for the office (thankfully no suit). Something to eat and drink is also in the pack.
You see: A lot to carry.

Before I switched to the Radial 26 I used a Chrome bag. Stylish, yes - but uncomfortable when you ride with it fully packed.
Something odd presses against your back, there is no padding whatsoever... It's just not comfortable. In addition it's just one giant "room" with a tiny zip-pocket on the front. No organisation possible.
I searched long and hard for a backpack which fits my needs. Which is: A lot of space, internal organisation (!), durability.
Enter the Radial 26.

I have this backpack now for approximately 3 months and I am more than happy with it.
The internal organisation is awesome - so many pockets to put stuff in. Everything has its place and I don't have to search for my gear.
The laptop compartment is really nice. Sometimes I forget that I have a laptop in my pack and I place the pack pretty rude on the floor. The laptop is safe inside the Radial and doesn't take damage.
What I really like: The kickstand. I remember when I was young I hated it that the backpacks fell over. Or you had to lean it against a wall/chair/table.
Take off the Radial, place it on the ground and presto - it stands. Really nice feature.
The raincover is also great. It's a matter of seconds to put it over the pack. Like... 10 seconds at the most.

There is one thing I do not like: The position adjustment straps. The are made of elastic material and... I don't know. It gives the pack a little a wobbly feeling.

Overall this is a fantastic pack and worth the money. Highly recommended!

Ultimate bike pack
Hallo, I'm from Denmark I ride my bike every day all year, rain or snow. My problem was I have tried many, no really a'lot of daypack's from 24L - 35L never finding the right one, until Radial 26 this is my ultimate choice when riding my bike every day. I spent a little time adjusting it to fit my back and riding style (really nice btw) and now I don't feel it on my back it just there.

I really like all the rooms, it can stand up, side room for water bottle and the side pocket with the elastic for the key (I think) Thank you for making the ultimate bike pack.

only for biking
been using this bag for lil over a year now. it is a great bag overall but as soon as you use it while walking, the lower back of the bag would pull your shirt. you would need to constantly adjust the your shirt or else, your lower back would be exposed.seriously, every 15 steps or so. So annoying that I wish I could bike until I reach my seat at uni and transition from bike to seat without walking.

Excellent bag for serious commuting
I have been using the Radial 26 for over two months for daily commuting to work. Because of the distance (24km each way,) I need to take extra clothes, toiletries, and towels in addition to a notebook computer, a couple of books, smartphone, keys, wallet, a rain jacket, sunglasses, and other things for the office. All of this adds up to quite a load, nearly 6 kg net. All of it is carried comfortably in the Radial, and it is well organized, too. The computer section at the rear, next to the back, comfortably takes my Surface Book (irregular shape and heavy!) and a couple of books. The main compartment easily accommodates a packing cube and toiletries bag with room to spare, while the front compartment takes all the kinds of small items and includes a plastic key carabiner. The pockets keep things where I need them. The additional top pocket for glasses side zip pocket, and the front mesh pocket keep a few key items at hand without having to dig in one of the large compartments. The keyring in the side pocket is a little gimmicky, but it works, and I actually do use it. It has let me organize a perfect routine. The included rain cover, concealed at the bottom of the pack, is a welcome and comforting addition. The good organization means that I can tell instantly if I have everything I need and can then just pick up the bag and go.

Even with the considerable weight, the pack sits comfortably. The straps are attached to elastic draws, which gives the whole mass a slightly “springy” feeling that is unusual at first and required some fine tuning for me to get the right fit. Having found a good position, I find it sits just right with no back fatigue for the one-hour ride. The Airspeed suspension helps some in hot weather, but it does not perform miracles; the shoulder straps are well ventilated. The waist strap is quite narrow, but then again a bulkier trekking-style strap would be in the way. The Kickstand and LidLock features do just what they are supposed to, and they make the transition from ride to office (unpacking, storage) a breeze.

A lot of people I know use a rack-mounted bag of a prominent German manufacturer. I tried this after several people encouraged me, but the size and weight of the things I need to carry made it hard to pack and find things, and the balance of the bicycle was totally off. The Radial is a much better choice for me, even in hot weather.

This is my fifth Osprey pack, and it is a winner. I recommend it to anyone who has to do serious carrying over a long-distance commute.

Brilliant commuting backpack
After years of using a Deuter AC lite 18 for commuting 30km+ single trip to work on my race bike, I recently had a crash and I was worried about my laptop... which survived luckily. Nevertheless, I started looking for an upgrade: 1) mesh back, 2) laptop sleeve and 3) high quality material. Turned out the Radial 26 was the only, but expensive, option... In the end, my experience with another Osprey bag (Flap Jack messenger) which turned out to be the best bag I ever had, made me to bite the bullet (price) and go for the Radial 26. Ever since I started using it, I am amazed by the functionality of the bag. It continues to surprise me with clever features, like the very clever key storage, so many storage options, just brilliant. It has lots and lots of space and is very comfortable on the back. It would get 5 stars if the price was a bit lower and for me, the bag could be 3-4 liters smaller. But, all in all, it was definitely worth the upgrade. You can feel this bag is made by cycling enthusiasts. Well done.

Very comfortable and functional daypack
A great backpack for travelling. It is very comfortable. Laptop and tablet are well protected and there is enough space for everything I need to bring on a trip. Lots of compartements to keep everything organized. Great ventilation for my back.

Comfortable, light
Got this back to fit in all the little gadgets I need for work as well as keeping documents safe and uncrumpled. It's not 26L in a single compartment, so you can't just chuck loads of kit in and dash off - there are several seperate compartments with pouches and zipped pockets to keep everything organised. Once I'd worked out where everything fit best, this has worked perfectly for commuting and visiting different sites. So much lighter than you would expect given the aluminium frame; the frame is really helpful as you don't have to find a wall to prop it against, and helps you access your kit quickly
