Unfortunately there is one major issue, the shoulder carry straps are way too thin for a bag of this size. I would not recommend this bag to anyone who wants to use the shoulder straps to carry.
They are approx one inch wide at the thinnest point and have hardly any padding at all. There is no waist strap due to the nature of the bag so all the weight is directly on your shoulders. This bag is 130 litres, so you could easily expect it to weight more than 20KG with all your kit, this does not seem to have been taken in to account when designing the shoulder straps.
I have carried this bag multiple times, once was for an extended period of approx 3 hours (not what the bag is intended for admittedly) and I was left with long thin bruises where the straps lie over my shoulders! Even carrying this bag for short periods is vastly uncomfortable when using the shoulder straps.
This bag was almost exactly what I was looking for, shame about the critical design issue.
Osprey Customer Service,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, the Transporters are designed as duffel packs that can be carried as a backpack when necessary. We are aware that if this pack is to be filled with 20kg+ weight then this can cause discomfort to the user.
The handles (harness) are thin and lightly padded so that they can fit easily in a hand and allow for good grip. The pack is designed to be carried as a backpack when lightly filled to free up your hands to carry other items.
