Great bag for work
As someone who's works from home, the office and also works from mobile areas, this bag is perfect. It holds my laptop, charger and headset, with specific pockets for large amounts of paperwork, while also leaving space for my lunch and gym wear.

The bag can fit so much in it without looking ridiculously packed on your back, and can be easily organised so everything is easy to get to.

I also used this bag as my carryon and used it daily on my holiday with no complaints. I only wish it came with a waterproof sheet!

Great bag, terrible zip pulls
This bag has been awesome, had it for over a year now and it's comfortable, easy to adjust and has a large capacity.

My only complaint about this bag is the zip pulls which are cord. The cords constantly come off the zip and need to be reattached. This only happens when I pull them so never lost one but it's extremely frustrating when trying to zip up the bag in a hurry. The problem is that the cord fits through the back of the zipper opening so unless you apply all the force in the opposite direction the cord slips and slides out the the back of the zip. I don't understand why this zip pull was chosen.

Great design, but quality control needs improvement
I´ve always used Deuter packs for my daily intense commuting (15+ years) and Lowe Alpine for hiking&trekking. I always admired the Osprey designs and got a Nebula 34 at a reduced price, and although the pack is satisfying 95% of my necessities, after a few days of continuously adjusting the shoulder straps I was shocked to discover that the right one is 2 cm longer than the left. I mean the padded top part, is literally longer easily noticeably if I align them flat on the back panel and compare the length, is 2 cm longer where it attaches to the top, next to the handle. A bitter taste for the first buy from this brand. Will have to live with it and be more careful if ever buying again...

Glücklicherweise ist nie was passiert.

Found what we've been searching for
We love the thought through purpose made rucksack for urban commuting and travelling. The quality is excellent. We've had 2 other rucksacks in the last 2 years we bought for this purpose and their quality was so poor, shoulder straps that frayed, inside pockets that tore! This rucksack cost more than these, but it is absolutely worth every penny.
Thank you Osprey for attention to detail, quality, in this rucksack.

Perfect
I have been looking for the perfect pack for a while and I have tested several packs including the new North Face Surge II, the Deuter Grant as well as packs from Samsonite, Tumi and some more tactical brands. I have now owned this pack for 6 weeks with daily use for work as well as taken it on a holiday. It is light, comfortable to carry and can be large or small collapsed as you need it to be. The main compartments of many competitor bags have to sacrifice space in the main compartment once you load the front and back pockets. With the Nebula the design allows for full front and back compartments while leaving you ample space in the main, which is great! Excellent bag at a super fair price!

Perfect for light travelling
I've been using it for my last 4 trips, it's just ideal as a carry on cause I don't bother to check in luggage. It has plenty of compartments to keep things organised and it's amazing how much you can stuff in it if you know how to with little help of cubes. Had a Farpoint 55 which is great but doesn't feet in every overhead luggage locker. This one is just perfect.

Just what the Dr ordered
After much research I decided on the Nebula for my holiday to Japan, the rucksack had to be a travel bag, hand luggage and capable of carrying enough gear for walking days in the mountains. This bag was perfect for this, compressible, expandable and comfortable,
I have many other rucksacks and this was perfect for this job!

Sehr praktisch
Guter Kauf.

Brilliant Backpack
I am really fussy about work packs and have owned every make from a Northface pack to the latest Tumi backpacks. I can safely say that this pack is the most comfortable, spacious and lightweight. When looking to buy the pack, I was more or less set on getting the NorthFace Surge II, but when the sales guy showed me the Nebula a) it was £40 cheaper, b) lighter c) better made. The sales rep in Blacks was adamant that Osprey are worth the value for money, and thus far I completely agree! I highly recommend this bag!

Excellent produit !
Vraiment satisfait !

The best in its category!
I was searching for a bag that I could go to university and travel as well. I've read a lot of reviews and decided to buy the Nebula 34L.

This bag is amazing, incredibly well made and ergonomic. I really recommend it for anyone who wants a bag to commute and travel.

Perfect!

Incredible
Never ever have I owned a piece of equipment that was made with so much thought of design and comfort. Great materials also. Just perfect! Osprey made me a lifelong customer of them with this pack, that is for sure!

Awesome
Having the Sojourn and Talon already I knew Osprey made good quality products that last for years. I travel with work almost every week and the Nebula pack has far exceeded all my hopes since buying it. One minute I can be using it traveling from one country/hotel to the next, then using it for a daybag up in the Lake District with the family. It's a perfect size for business and pleasure, plus it compliments my 4 year old Sojourn that I use for 45+ weeks a year perfectly.
Thanks Osprey

Best pack/rucksack I have owned.
Just returned from a trip to Borneo, the Nebula was used everyday. The zips work first time every time, lots of secure compartments and well padded for keeping cameras safe. A great piece of equipment.

A good bag , with just a couple of niggles
I bought myself a Nebula 34 this summer for everday work/occasional hiking use and, so far, I'm glad that I did.

The three compartments (+ the stash pocket) provide lots of options for organising stuff whilst still leaving a big space in the middle to put bulkier things in. From the back to the front you have;

1 - The laptop compartment: the zip runs completely around the top 3 sides so it can open out flat; the sleeve on the back panel will take a laptop up to about 28cm by 40cm; there's a zipped mesh pouch, approx 28cm by 28cm on the other panel and space in the middle for files etc.; sleeve and pouch both end comfortably above the bottom of the pack so you won't bump the contents when you put it down
2 - The main compartment: just one large space with a 29cm by 29cm pocket on the back panel (which has a layer of padding between this and the laptop compartment)
3 - The organiser compartment: various pockets & pouches, a key clip and space left over for some bigger stuff; the zip is not obstructed by the compression straps

In addition to this the two side mesh pockets are great for umbrellas/travel mugs/water bottles etc. (with compression straps to secure them) and the one on the front is handy for putting your book in when getting on & off public transport. Correctly loaded the pack will stand upright when sat on the ground.

I'd point out that this is a fairly long pack, about 47-48cm from the shoulder straps to the base, so it might not suit shorter folk. I'm 5'8" and I could use it with a hip belt.

There are a couple of points, however, where I think improvements could be made;

Nothing is provided to tidy up the loose straps, which is a bit unsightly on an urban/work bag (I notice that there's no sign of loose webbing in the catalogue pictures....) - I had to provide my own. Some simple loops around the straps would cost pennies to add at the factory.

Although the pack is hydration bladder compatible (with an exit point & loops for the hose) there is no hanging point. Again, this would cost pennies to add.

The flap over the laptop compartment zip is a little narrow, causing it to get caught behind the zip. Why couldn't it be the same width as the one on the main compartment?

The base isn't reinforced, just the same material as the rest of the pack, which makes me concerned for it's longevity.

Those points aside the design and quality of the pack have impressed me and I'll certainly look at Osprey packs in the future.

A good backpack, but for from perfect.
I bought this bag as a replacement for the North Face Surge.
While the Nebula backpack better in some ways, but it I also found it has a few shortcomings.

Let’s start with the positive features. Unlike my Surge, I like how expandable the Nebula is. As an engineering student, I can comfortably fit in most of the items I need on a daily basis. There is a lot of volume for when you need it, but the pack doesn't feel bulky or heavy. The front stretch pocket also is a great feature, and I don't understand why it isn't being used in more backpacks. It is very convenient for quickly and temporally storing items while on the move. I also like the discrete location of the embossed pocket which makes it feel more secure.

The main thing like dislike about the backpack is the back panel design. It really seems like an afterthought. While the NF surge might not be as comfortable, it does provide better ventilation.
The backpannel on the Nebula does pretty much nothing to keep your back cool in warmer climates and its often still sweaty in cold conditions. There is one big padded area and two to the side, but there are no strategically placed channels to accommodating airflow like on many backpacks of this type. When there is no laptop in the bag, there is also not much giving it shape.

I know Osprey makes two similar backpacks, the Pandion and Tropos, both of which feature an airspeed ventilation system (mesh back panel).
I tried the Pandion, but it just isn't as expandable (in part because of the kickstand) and light weight as the nebula and it doesn't have a separate laptop/tablet compartment. I did however like the airspeed back panel. Also, the water bottle pockets were a little deeper than on the Nebula which made larger bottles fit more securely. The Tropos is just too heavy for me and it also doesn't have a stretch front panel.

I also found the organization compartment of the Nebula to be lacking a bit. It doesn't feel as well thought out as the NF Surge and I often wasn't able to organize all of my items the way I wanted.
For instance, there are three pen holders while two would have been sufficient. If one pen holder is removed the pouch next to could be made larger to accommodate wider variety of items.
The fit and finish feels just a little bit better on the NF Surge here.
The nylon material feels looks a little generic, I would have liked to see some different materials.
A more matte finish with a different texture would look a little more attractive.

Overall if found the Nebula to be a good backpack, but the aforementioned issues keep it from being a great one. Even though the backpack is in many ways superior to the NF Surge, I couldn’t justify keeping the Nebula as a replacement because of all its shortcomings. I have since returned the Nebula, but I would buy it again if the issues have been addressed in the next release.

Pros
+Expandable, lots of volume
+Front stretch pocket
+Light weight

Cons
-Back panel ventilation
-Organization pocket
-Shallow water bottle pockets

Long term, everyday use
I purchased the Nebula in February 2015, from Snow and Rock, so it has now served 3 years as my everyday commute laptop bag (circa 1000 days in service, a dozen or so trips abroad, EU, USA and South America).

I work from multiple locations as a quantity surveyor. Normally construction sites in London which are pretty harsh environments. Me and my bag suffer atrocious abuse from the worst rail service in Britain; I travel on the Southern Rail/Thameslink overcrowded trains from Sussex and on the London Underground, I am standing, my bag is on the floor being kicked and trodden on. I carry in it; work-boots, gym kit, laptop, tablet, spare batteries, site tape, clip board, cables, chargers, wallet, keys, change, notepad, pens, pencils etc. I clip a hardhat on the outside. My laptop is 6 1/2 years old, it has been well protected by the bag, it still works fine. The bag itself is quite lightweight, I load it with between 5 and 15 kg each day, you cannot escape the weight, but once on your back it is stable and the chest strap and waist belt hold it in place comfortably, even running up escalators on the tube is no problem. As an RMT and Southern victim, I have, on many occasions, driven to the outskirts of London and cycled 6 miles each way to and from the site, I sometimes carry it on my back on the bike, comfortable up to about 10kg and best strapped to the pannier rack if over 10kg.

Bearing in mind the amount of work it has done and the abuse it has taken, you may think this review is an endorsement at the end of its life. No, and far from it. There is not a single tear in the internal or external fabric, all the internal and external seams are the same as the day I bought it. every zip functions with the same smoothness and control, never catching on the cover flaps. every clip still clips, despite the number of times they have been trodden on. I have the bag by my desk now and I have been over it in detail and it does not have so much as a nick on it. I also have an Osprey Talon 33, I use for hiking which turned me on to the brand 10 years ago, that bag is also in first class condition.

I visited the site today as I am looking to get some larger luggage for some travel I am planning this summer and I will now only choose Osprey. Whilst on the site I noticed the Nebula is still a current model, so I thought it was worth half an hour to write a review.

If you are considering buying a commuting and everyday rucksack, you will not regret choosing a Nebula and if you want any other size or type of bag or luggage, do not bother considering anything but an Osprey.

Simple yet effective.
For the 3 years I had been using the yellow and black predecessor I have not had a single issue (until very recently) and has served me without fail for that time. It has been on some hard trips, from DofE to Tanzania, as well as the everyday school-run without fail, usually carrying around 7.5kg of stuff. The closest to the back compartment is great for my very large laptop (15.6") and has managed it without fail for 3 years until the zip gave up the ghost. The fabric is unbelievable, can easily manage the hefty weight that I keep in my bag. The medium pocket has enough space for a couple small bags, 2 pads of paper and up to 4 textbooks at a time, and has a small cloth compartment for quick access things - such as pens etc.. Brilliant bag and will serve very well for at least 3 years.

Great bag for organisation and protection
I bought this pack after reading and watching various reviews online. I am already a massive fan of Osprey, my previous 24/7 series pack was the quasar in black. This still has plenty of wear left and will still get used but what attracted me to the nebula in particular was that it has the TSA approved laptop section at the back which opens up fully. This section is great for carrying my MacBook Pro and large iPad Pro and still has plenty breathing space.
The middle section is great for addition bits and pieces, a possible change of clothes or jacket.
I have really noticed the difference in space between the 2 packs, even though there is only 6 litres difference.
This bag is very sturdy, as usual with Osprey. I am looking forward to using this pack on a daily basis, from the workplace to the airport and train stations to occasional outdoor activity (my Osprey Stratos is my favourite for this).
This pack is very versatile. Personally I feel that there are no cons to this pack and will last for a very long time.

A great pack for everyday use, I love it! Sad to say though it's a shame about the mesh material - not durable at all.
I absolutely love this bag, I got it to replace a Jansport that finally died after 15+ years of use. I needed something that I could travel with internationally, use on a day-to-day basis, basically bringing everything and the kitchen sink in comfort! I'm a busy, single mom, and I have used this bag practically every single day over the past 2 years to keep everything I could possibly need for my toddler when we're on the go. It has great compartments, from the front section with internal pockets and handy organisers, to the huge central section where I could fill up with the heavy items from a supermarket shop, and a back compartment that is really padded for when I did need to take a laptop out and about too. The side pockets for drinks are great, although perhaps a bit shallow, I always found water bottles would pop out (what about a strap higher up to secure longer bottles - one with a strap and clip would be ideal for securing Sigg bottles, etc).

I've tried other bags, but I keep coming back to this one, it has comfortable straps and sits well on the body. I went for the men's, because the women's wasn't big enough for what I wanted, so the chest strap is wrong for me, but that's fine, I knew it would be. It's all-around a great bag.

My only issue with it, is that it says 24/7, but I could see that the mesh of the side and front pocket were not made of a durable material at all, and it almost kept me from buying it because I didn't think it would last. I soon found my instinct to be correct, as almost immediately (probably a few weeks in), it ripped without much effort. I just stitched it up, but then it ripped again. And again. And again. Different places, front and side pockets. I actually came on the Osprey site to see if there was somehow to have the mesh replaced but it's not part of the warranty - fair enough, I get that.

If it were possible to make a more durable mesh, one that wasn't so fabricky, and could take repeated shoving of bottles and bits and bobs into it, I would give this bag 6, even 7 stars. At the moment I'm trying to decide whether to pay for a replacement mesh, add patches, or what to do - I use it for work and it's looking rather shabby with the holes and darning. The only thing about sending it away would be I would be without the bag for a week or so, which doesn't seem doable! It's my go-to, essential kit. Osprey, please improve the mesh, and you will be on to an absolute winner.

Great backpack for all around
I will not mention the positive details because is a great pack all the way and on urban/cycling/commuting/travel category, for 34 l, is no comment.
I have only one negative issue and is the back panel which I would have wanted to be more rigid/rough and you will feel the need when you will carry some shopping or some travel stuff.

A decent backpack with some critical shortcomings
I have been using this pack for two years now, almost on a daily basis.
As a student, I have to commute to my university by public transport, so I have some experience with this bag at this point.

I'll start off with the positive points. I like how spacious, lightweight and expandable the pack is. The front mesh pocket is also great for quickly stashing things away. However, in the time that I have used this bag, I encountered a couple of major issues.

First of all, I really don't like the lack of rigidity of the backpack. The laptop compartment is raised bit from the bottom to prevent impacts when the bag is put on the ground. However, there is nothing besides the fabric itself reinforcing the back panel. The space between the bottom of the pack and the bottom of the laptop folds when a laptop is placed in the compartment.
The back panel just buckles under the weight of the contents in the bag, negating the protective space between the ground and
the laptop compartment. I notice the laptop impacting the floor when I place it down sometimes. This is obviously not ideal.
The back panel could easily be reinforced with a polymer sheet.
I also found that the back panel is not very breathable. Unlike similar backpacks from other brands, there are no effective ventilation channels on the back panel. Even in the winter, this can be a little clammy.

Another issue I have is that the water bottle pockets are not nearly high enough. When I put the bag down, the water bottles get pushed up a little.
Because the pockets are so shallow, the bottle hangs to the side and sometimes falls out. I almost lost my water bottles a couple of times because of this.

In summary, the main issues are a lack of rigidity in the back panel, lack of ventilation in the back panel, shallow water bottle pockets.
These issues become quite frustrating over time. At this point, I don't really enjoy using this backpack anymore.
I do hope these issues are solved in the next iteration because otherwise, I will have to look somewhere else.

Multi-use backpack, surprisingly spacious
As many reviews have already stated, this is a great all rounder. Personally I wanted something that I could use day-to-day carrying my laptop and various work stuff, as well as a bag I could take on short holidays or trips away instead of also buying a small carry on suitcase. It manages to be compact when I'm only carrying a few things thanks to the well placed compression straps but also expansive when I need to fill it with clothes. In fact it's amazing how much you can actually fit in, the bag seems to just expand outward forever. The straps are comfortable and well padded and makes carrying heavy loads of shopping really easy. I also really like the organisation pockets, that mean I never lose things at the bottom of the bag. The high contrast orange interior of my gray pack also helps when I'm looking for things. To summarise; a lot of thought has obviously gone into the function of this bag and looking at it's construction I'm sure it will last for years.

Comfortable backpack, lots of room inside, ideal for everyday use
I had been using a Quasar pack nearly every day for the last five years and it was just starting to wear out, so I had no problem choosing an Osprey pack for its replacement. I wanted just s little more room than before so the Nebula 34 was ideal and I'm really pleased with it after about a month of daily use. It took a bit of getting used to all the very many different pockets and pouches this pack has, which is great for carrying all my quotidian items, as well as plenty of space for shopping, or whatever else I need it for really. I do quite a lot of walking around town and on my way to work and college and I have found it to be very comfortable. If it lasts as well as my old pack, I shall be very pleased with it indeed. I highly recommend.

The three compartments (+ the stash pocket) provide lots of options for organising stuff whilst still leaving a big space in the middle to put bulkier things in. From the back to the front you have;

There are a couple of points, however, where I think improvements could be made;
