Ultralight Raincover M (30 - 50L)

Too much bag, too little cover
I like the idea and the material of the raincover.

However it has a couple of cons for me when using on my Atmos AG 50 Large backpack.
-The pouch being attached makes it only more difficult to stuff. Cut it off, problem solved..
-The M-size constricts the shoulder belts as it is too much shaped as an actual bag instead of a cover. (The cover that came with the Atmos AG actually fits better.)
-The L-size is too big for the Atmos AG 50 (yep, bought the M, switched to the L and back to the M, bit of cost involved ...).

The M-size is pretty much the correct size for the Atmos AG 50 but it is too much U-shaped to fit very well. It will not go 'over' the bottom of the backpack as that would restrict the hip-belt. It must go 'over' the top, but does so much that is quickly end ups shedding rainwater on you and puts pressure on the shoulder-belts. The edge with the cord it too small to fit well, specially when you use the clips to go over the shoulder-belts.
The bottom of the raincover should be 'flat' and the top only have a small 'pocket' with probably about 30% more elastic cord.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Guus,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Ultralight Raincover M.

We appreciate the feedback on the shape and design of the Raincover, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our packs and accessories, and I will ensure your comments are passed on to the relevant department.

The Atmos AG 50 comes with it's own integrated and detachable raincover, which you should find located in the top lid of the pack.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service

Update
The rain cover successfully kept my Exos 58 pack bone dry during 6 days of continuous rain which is really all that matters. But that enormous, ostentatious logo on the back........???

UL Rain Cover M, does its job but inconvenient
There must have been a re-design since the last reviews. The YouTube CampingCross video shows the raincover straps being fitted under the back panel. This is not correct, it fits on top and has a different type of clip. it is impossible for me to get my average sized male hands behind the back panel to fasten the clip. The re-design has, in fact, made the cover less usable by putting the stuff sack and the toggle at the base of the sack which makes it very difficult to get into the sack when fitted. Otherwise, it seems to be a good fit on an Exos 58 and should be rainproof (haven't tried it in the rain yet.)

Great product - add 20% weight
Not that I speak French, but even without translation I get Claude's point. I weigh the medium size at 94 grammes (3.3 oz) even though it says 80 grammes on the packaging. I would expect Osprey to get this right, hence the 4 star rating. Other than that it's another great product from Osprey and fits my Exos 48 perfect. So even though it's 20% heavier than advertised it's still a light weight rain cover and a keeper.
