Exos 38

What sacrifices do you really want to make when buying a lightweight pack? Comfort? Load Carry? Features? With the Exos 38 you can put these tricky decisions to the back of your mind! The Exos offers all the benefits of a lightweight pack but without the normal compromises, making it the pack to push yourself to the limit, moving fast and light. Our revolutionary ExoForm™ harness and hipbelt uses a dual mesh construction to deliver a comfortable and stable fit that puts a traditional harness design to shame. The ventilated AirSpeed™ backpanel will keep you cool when the weather turns hot, but still delivers a stable load-carrying platform. Essential 'on the go' items like energy gels are easily accessed via the power mesh pockets on the harness. Keep other small items easily to hand within the dual zipped hipbelt pockets. Conventional floating lid systems can be bulky and cumbersome but for the Exos we developed a neat ladder system allowing extended or reduced capacity. If you want to really hit minimal weight, remove the lid entirely and expose the integrated FlapJacket™ feature that provides additional protection to the top of the pack if the weather suddenly turns on you. Keeping your contents tight and under control is even easier with the adjustable multi-point compression system on each pack sides. Every element of the Exos has been laboured over to provide the lightest yet best performing product possible. All these features and benefits for a shade over 1 kg, we should be accused of witchcraft...

Using the Exos 38 M I have been hiking Scotland for more than 1000 kms (naturally paying special homage at Boat of Garten, guess why) with a (full outdoor) base-weight of approx. 10 kgs which at some days went up (food and water) to well above 15 kgs. This fine piece of equipment didn't let me down once. So little weight and so many features! And everything remained perfectly intact: the tiny zippers, the slim straps, the whole filigree yet sturdy construction ... and the curved frame really helped keeping my back dry. There is only one - minor - issue: the borders of the shoulderstraps can be a bit cutting in, espc. if the carried weight is above 12 kgs or so. Even though I found my ways with it, I wouldn't mind a little cushioning or an aligned design there. (My wife reports the same issue with her Exos 38 S also at lower weights.) The large mesh pocket is an enormously stretchable, very forgiving and most welcome feature - you might be tempted to forget that it's not quite adamantine, so don't be displeased if you create a few add'l holes there. Summarized, the Exos 38 is truly a state-of-the-art product. Go for it!

I bought this because my 65L ariel was too big for shorter hikes and I wanted a pack for doing light-weight trips. This is perfect for you if you wanna get down in weight and have a backpack to motivate you to it. It's also great for other short trips, I can recommend! :)

The rucksack fits most European airlines as hand luggage so no need to put in aircraft hold
Rucksack is light and strong the best on the market for mountain hikes

As an avid Long Distance Longboarder I love using the Exos. 38L is just enough to carry all my load including tent, sleeping bag, some backup screws and gear and fresh clothing.
It's also made to be worn completely flat. I use it with just the Osprey Hydraulics pack when I do a daily ride.

I wore it to the Dutch Ultraskate (24 hours to make a distance as long as possible) and it never even bothered me once.

Pratique léger, bien conçu, des poches très paratiques. Sur le dos on ne le sent pas.
Un excellent produit
Pascal
Beaucoup de rangement, poche à filet sur le côté et sur le devant. Bonne aération du dos. Léger et résistant.

I bought this pack to walk the Pennine Way last summer. It was perfect for the job, comfortable to wear, easy to pack (deceptively roomy), and above all lightweight to carry. The hydration pack was a bit of a squeeze to fit in but the rest of the features made up for it.

Very functional and comfortable to carry!
The only thing to improve: more seperate store room inside the bag. Easy to solve with one or two plastic bags to get everything out in once :)

So far the best backpack we ever tested: the lightest with a bigger volume than the 38 liters mentioned in the manual. It’s full of features that really work without increasing its weight or transforming it into a very complicated backpack. A day pack which can be use during a summer trek and we used it for our full blown winter trek in the mountains.
