If after a hard day's ride, the end of the trail is still blissfully unknown then you share our 'single-track' mind. This spirit of adventure is captured by the versatility of our Escapist series. Whether you're riding 100+ miles or commuting to work, the AirScape™ backpanel provides you with complete ventilation and support.

Decided that today you're going to tackle some downhill? When you're thrashing those fast descents you'll appreciate how the Biostretch™ hipbelt and harness keep the pack cinched comfortably to your back. The Escapist's twin zippered hipbelt pockets mean you can quickly grab trail essentials on the go and firmly attach your helmet with Lidlock™. Keep your phone and sunglasses to hand with the scratch-free pockets in the harness and main compartment.

The best rides inevitably result in dirty gear, store it separately with the Escapist's internal zipped divider. Keeping yourself hydrated when riding hard is absolutely key, with quick access to the external hydration sleeve you can easily refill your reservoir.

When you're out riding over multiple days, you'll need to carry enough kit.InsideOut™ compression and PowerMesh™ stretch pockets allow you to securely transport all your gear no matter how rutted the track you're riding gets. An internal organiser means you can easily sort your tools, spares and pumps. Even when the weather turns for the worst, the built in high visibility raincover deploys quickly to protect your pack and all of your gear. Keep yourself visible in low light with reflective graphics and blinker light attachment.

Comfortable, lightweight, well built and full-featured day pack for cycling and day-hiking
Besides the usual excellent Osprey build quality - great fabrics, strong zips and stitching, ventilation of back panel and harness/belt - this is a superb mid-size day pack that focusses on genuinely useful features rather than gimmicks.

The harness and hip belt are comfortable and easily adjusted, with the belt effectively supporting heavier loads while being flexible enough to move with you and remain comfortable on longer walks. The variety of pockets is also a benefit, allowing you to organise gear and access it quickly without having to rummage around in the bottom of the main compartment. Speaking of which, the ability to have the main compartment as either one large volume or divide it into 70/30 upper/lower with the zipped divider is brilliant, and the kind of feature usually only found on much larger packs. Also easy to reduce the bag volume with the compression straps when you're carrying less.

The side mesh bottle pockets are deep enough to securely hold 1L bottles or even a 700ml vacuum flask, and the rear mesh pocket is useful for stashing hats/gloves etc, or even a lightweight hard shell; it would benefit from some kind of retention QR buckle though, as per the Talon or Syncro. The 'LidLock' helmet retention system is also effective and easy to use, with this version being easily adjustable from outside the bag, rather than having to fiddle around inside a pocket. Reflective details are also in abundance and very welcome on a multi-use pack that focuses more on cycling.

Only points of note are that while the shoulder pocket is too small for most smartphones it does offer useful quick access to gels, snacks or even a small GPS unit, and, the small QR buckles on the upper compression straps are too small to be easily operated with gloves on. Finally, the bag would benefit from some additional external gear loop/bungees for trekking poles, etc. to make it truly multi-use.

A great pack that works just as well for walking/day hikes as it does on the bike. Highly recommended.

    Perfect, apart from one thing
Love the backpack. It’s comfortable, easy to adjust to the right fitting, lightweight and extremely good quality.
Loads of useful pockets and even at 25/23 L, lots of room for all my cycling/commuting needs.
However, the rain cover is awful. It’s the size of a tent, goes way over the shoulder part of the straps and despite the pull string to tighten it over the pack the cover still sits lose and flaps in the wind.
I am suspecting that the rain cover was a one size fits all solution, but to be honest one size does not really fit all. My former Vaude Bike Alpin backpack was much better on that front... especially when living in Scotland where it rains a lot. Hence, only four stars.

    Excellent bag
Had this bag for just about 2 months. Use it everyday cycling to work and it’s excellent. It holds everything I need (laptop, work, clothes, shoes etc) and has loads of useful features, plus has survived a few rain storms now.
My only complaint would be that it’s a shame the phone pockets on the strap don’t fit iPhones. ... but then again it would be less slightly if they were that big.

    Top !

    Packs everything you should need
As a qualified MTB guide this pack carries everything I need for a day out on the bikes including a 3 litre reservoir and still leaves room for more.
It's comfortable to wear and the multiple pockets and storage areas means I can separate out things for easy accessibility.
Definitely would recommend this as all day / multi-day biking pack.

  8. Did the job in Nepal
I took my Escapist 25L for a months MTB trip in Nepal and it was very comfy and did the job for 4-5 days while sending on my main backpack. The bag was put through very rough off-road terrain and most of the trip was loaded with 7-8kg of kit but with all the fastenings it was comfy as it could be, I'd recommend this bag to any cyclist it was worth the money and looks like it will last me a very long time. The only gripe is the mobile phone pocket could be a lot bigger for the mobiles these days.
