Xena 70

Wilderness unlimited. A true wilderness expedition is a project in long-distance organisation. You'll appreciate a pack that understands the challenge ahead.

Featuring a women's specific fit, the Xena 70 series is a true workhorse of backpacking packs, it was bred to organise and carry your gear across Earth's remotest regions. The dual side-zips and lower base compartment provide multiple access points to the main body of your pack.

We know what a 25+kg load feels like. To make this load more manageable we've invested all our expertise and experience into creating the best large-load bearing backsystem ever. The customizable Bioform™ CM hipbelt supports and distributes the weight of the pack in an even and comfortable way, while the torso adjustable BioForm™ harness with NeoSpacer™ mesh and AirScape™ backpanel provide both ventilation and comfort.

Our unique Stow-on-the-Go™ feature allows you to attach your Trekking Poles to the pack quickly and easily without removing it. The Powermesh pockets on the front and sides of the pack are great for storing anything you can cram into them, designed to access water bottles on the go.

The dual hipbelt pockets provide instant access to essentials like Energy Bars, Sun-Cream or Compact Camera.

The Xena 70 incorporates everything we've learned over the last 40 years about building durable, comfortable and intuitive expedition packs.

In Europe, this pack is supplied with a standard lid, rather than a DayLid.

Not remotely waterproof
Leaky...what can I say...after 2 hours in a bus luggage hold everything in my bag is soaked! In 29 years of hiking and travelling this has never happened. First Osprey pack will be my last sadly as it's a delight to wear.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Annie,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Xena 70.

All of our packs are made with waterproof materials. For a material to be considered waterproof it needs to have a HH (Hydrostatic Head) rating of at least 1000mm. All of our materials are coated so that they have a minimum HH rating of 1500mm. However, we always recommend that a rain cover is used in wet weather conditions as water can still get in through zips and other similar openings. For the Xena 70, we would recommend the Ultralight Raincover L.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service

Great bag!
Although on the pricey side, this bag delivers on size, comfort, appearance, space to shove things down and having enough padding to protect those shoved things. This bag served me well on my recent 2 month backpacking trip around Mexico and is a million times more comfortable and lightweight (despite containing 23kg worth of things by the end of the trip) than my previous rucksack. I look forward to taking it on more adventures! Definitely a bag worth investing in.

Couldn't be happier
I bought this backpack for world challenge (a month's backpacking) and decided to invest in a good one since I am planning further trips abroad. Out of our entire group, I always had the heaviest backpack but I never felt the weight while wearing it. It is extremely comfortable and the endless pockets are ideal for storing smaller items (until you can't remember which pocket they're in). The best part is that's it's very aesthetically pleasing which may not sound that important, but after a month of rough travel and clothes that are never fully clean etc, it's nice to have something that looks nice and feels sturdy.
