Excellent lightweight pack for mountain biking
I've been a fan of Osprey packs for some time now and when it came to getting a pack to use for mountain biking, with there was only one brand to choose. At 15L (in the M/L size), this pack works well for me either doing a couple of hours around the trail centre or one day outings in the hills.

The Syncro 15 offers excellent ventilation on the back due to the incorporated 'airspeed' mesh panel. As someone who heats up quite quickly when on the bike, this is a much appreciated feature, as a small gap between the back panel and the pack allows some airflow to keep things cool. In addition, the shoulder straps are well ventilated and comfortable to wear. The three compartments enable adequate storage for all that you'll need for a day's outing on the bike (though I have only just got this pack and used it in a hot summers day, I'm sure it will still be good for winter riding). Currently I'm using the Hydraulics™ 3L Reservoir with this pack, and when filled completely and inserted into the main compartment, still leaves enough room for an extra layer or waterproof jacket plus some snacks. If your planning a longer excursion into the backcountry on the bike, maybe the 20L pack may be more practical (?). The middle tool compartment offers two smaller pockets and one zipped pocket, plus three elasticated loops to hold a small pump and tyre levers in place. You could probably store a few additional items in this part ( such as energy gels/bars that you would want quick access to). The small top zippered compartment is enough to hold phone/keys (although I use this to store my sunglasses case with spare lenses). The two compression straps are quite useful, as if only out for a short ride, these can be tightened to slim-down the pack while riding.

At 5'7" I got the M/L sized pack and it fits me quite well with no discomfort, so overall I am very well pleased with this pack.

Super durable and lightweight!
Have had my Syncro 10 for several years and cannot fault it. The mesh raised back is very comfy especially in hot weather, once on I don't really notice it. I've used this bag on horse-riding treks in hot countries, as a cycling bag, nearly every day through winter out skiing and on my motorbike and it excels in all situations!
It is still in great condition considering all the abuse it has put up with and easily scrubs clean. I regularly use the waterproof cover and can confirm that it is waterproof even in snow, thunderstorms or hail.
My only criticism would be that the water bottle holders are a little shallow but it looks like the latest version has this corrected. I'm about to buy a slightly larger version for longer trips wouldn't consider anything except Osprey!
