Exos 38

Speed of light. Exos 38 represents the latest in a significant heritage of ventilated and lightweight backpacking packs. Combining optimum comfort and stability with durable, superlight materials, Exos 38 is the ideal pack for moving fast on multi-day adventures.

The Exos 38 offers all the benefits of a lightweight pack but without the normal compromises, helping you to move fast and light.

Our revolutionary ExoForm™ harness and hipbelt uses a dual mesh construction to deliver a comfortable and stable fit that puts a traditional harness design to shame.

The ventilated AirSpeed™ backpanel will keep you cool when the weather turns hot, but still delivers a stable load-carrying platform.

If you want to really hit minimal weight, remove the lid to expose the integrated FlapJacket™, which provides additional protection to the top of the pack.

Keeping your contents tight and under control is even easier with the adjustable multi-point compression system on each pack sides.

Every element of the Exos 38 has been laboured over to keep weight low, yet retain the best performance possible.

All these features and benefits at only a shade over 1 kg… We should be accused of witchcraft.

Key Features

  • AirSpeed™ ventilated trampoline suspended mesh backpanel
  • ExoForm™ mesh hipbelt and harness
  • FlapJacket™ top cover for use without lid

  • Cord tie off points

Good pack, but noticeable flaws
Mostly a great pack - very comfortable with no pain after many days of use. The ventilation system is superb.

These are areas for improvement:
1) Lack stability when it's off your back - not easy to stand it up or lean against a wall. Keeps sliding.
2) The side pocket straps are a bit dysfunctional - they keep snagging on the things put in and out of the pockets. Rethink needed.
3) The front mesh needs to be stronger - mine has numerous holes after a season of use. Granted, I've been sliding around a bit on screen slopes but nothing too out of the ordinary.

ottima scelta.
Leggero, pratico, tessuto molto resistente, ottimo compagno di viaggio. Peccato manchi un'apertura sul fondo ed il coprizaino impermeabile incorporato.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Roberto,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Exos 38.

It is great to hear you have found your Exos to be an excellent travel companion, due to it being lightweight and durable.

The Exos does not come with a raincover, as this pack has been stripped back to ensure it is as lightweight as possible, however, our Ultralight Raincover M will fit the Exos 38, and can be purchased separately for those customers who would like the option of a raincover.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service

Excelente mochila

Perfetto, leggero, capiente, ben strutturato. Che altro aggiungere?

Super light and functional
Very functional and comfortable to carry!
The only thing to improve: more seperate store room inside the bag. Easy to solve with one or two plastic bags to get everything out in once :)

Great for long distance trails
I bought this pack to walk the Pennine Way last summer. It was perfect for the job, comfortable to wear, easy to pack (deceptively roomy), and above all lightweight to carry. The hydration pack was a bit of a squeeze to fit in but the rest of the features made up for it.

Long Distance Treks
As an avid Long Distance Longboarder I love using the Exos. 38L is just enough to carry all my load including tent, sleeping bag, some backup screws and gear and fresh clothing.
It's also made to be worn completely flat. I use it with just the Osprey Hydraulics pack when I do a daily ride.

I wore it to the Dutch Ultraskate (24 hours to make a distance as long as possible) and it never even bothered me once.

mochilla ligera , practica y muy completa
La mochila es muy practica y tiene muchas posibilidades. Es fantastica la red que tiene y que permite que no sude la espalda y no se moje la camiseta.

Great Camino Rucksack
The rucksack fits most European airlines as hand luggage so no need to put in aircraft hold
Rucksack is light and strong the best on the market for mountain hikes

I love this backpack
I bought this because my 65L ariel was too big for shorter hikes and I wanted a pack for doing light-weight trips. This is perfect for you if you wanna get down in weight and have a backpack to motivate you to it. It's also great for other short trips, I can recommend! :)

Almost a miracle
Using the Exos 38 M I have been hiking Scotland for more than 1000 kms (naturally paying special homage at Boat of Garten, guess why) with a (full outdoor) base-weight of approx. 10 kgs which at some days went up (food and water) to well above 15 kgs. This fine piece of equipment didn't let me down once. So little weight and so many features! And everything remained perfectly intact: the tiny zippers, the slim straps, the whole filigree yet sturdy construction ... and the curved frame really helped keeping my back dry. There is only one - minor - issue: the borders of the shoulderstraps can be a bit cutting in, espc. if the carried weight is above 12 kgs or so. Even though I found my ways with it, I wouldn't mind a little cushioning or an aligned design there. (My wife reports the same issue with her Exos 38 S also at lower weights.) The large mesh pocket is an enormously stretchable, very forgiving and most welcome feature - you might be tempted to forget that it's not quite adamantine, so don't be displeased if you create a few add'l holes there. Summarized, the Exos 38 is truly a state-of-the-art product. Go for it!
