Best Bag EverI travel A LOT and in far flung places for a work. I'm often and sea too. I've had this bag for the last 6 years and it's gone everywhere with me. The wheels are extremely sturdy, and the backpack option is superb. I've walked miles along beaches and bush with it being completely packed and haven't felt discomfort. My Sojourn has lived a hard life of saltwater, sand, extreme heat, and airports of all kinds and still going pretty strong. I'm mainly replacing it because the zip holding the backpack straps broke (salt), but it will still do the odd bits of grandma travelling. Don't get me wrong though; this won't get you up the Himalayas.

der teufel liegt im DetailUltra stabil und als rucksack auch sehr bequem allerdings für mehrtägige Wanderungen würde ich ihn nicht nehmen da er einfach zu schwer ist. Insgesamt ist er sehr durchdacht auser das die Räder etwas weiter auseinander seien könnten, da er sich schnell aufschaukelt wenn man über Unebenheiten fährt und kippt. Das ist das größte Problem am Sojourn und wird schnell nervig.

Extremely durableI've had the previous design of this bag, and I've been on over 50 flights since and the bag is still going strong. I ditched the backpack as it's really a wheelie bag, and for the 5% of time I'd use it as a backpack, I'd rather ditch the weight. The chassis is the best, I compared to an Eagle Creek (the next best), and with the same weight when rolling, the Osprey feels 25% lighter. So durable, and excellent as a wheelie bag. Slight niggles; I'm 6ft, and the handle is maybe 1" to short, and I often bang the bag against my feet, so in a 3rd design Osprey, please make the handle a bit longer. Version 2 is even heavier than version 1; I travel worldwide with up to 8kg of luggage, add 4kg for this bag; there are several add on's which Osprey could ditch to reduce this weight, without compromising its durability. It's nowhere near as good as a backpack compared to Osprey's dedicated packs; it's a wheelie bag but it's also the best design of all Osprey wheelie bags; so again Osprey, use this as a template to release a dedicated wheelie bag (same size/less weight). Finally, it's got few scuffs and worn material, but the fact that nothing has broken on it after 6 years of almost constant travel is unbelievable!

WoW! Don't look further, this is the one!As a travel editor and photographer and very active person I travel around the world. After more than 10 years my last Osprey travel bag was finished. Now, I'm a bit older for just another backpack, I wanted a bag with wheels that still looks like good. The Sojourn 80 was the best bet. Now, after 1 year, I traveled with it in warm weathers (pulling it over the sandy beaches of Palawan and Mozambique: works perfect but obviously its not made for that), checked in 5 star hotels with this fancy looking bag, went for wintersport to Swiss and had a train ride to Iran from Amsterdam... The 80 liters is perfect, it wide, its handy, its waterproof, it comfortable, its stable and look very good. There is an option to zip the back into a backpack, but actually I did not use it yet. Its actually the trolley function that I use ( I normally hate teh sound of suitcases, but not with this one. So absolutely a very very good bag/trolley which I can recommend for sure!

Top bag! Handles everything!This is truly a great bag that has endurance! I have travelled nearly every day with this bag since 2014 working as an adventure travel guide in Central America. It had been thrown on top of chicken buses, tied on to pick ups, horse & carts, wheeled through rocky unbeaten tracks and been on boats through the jungle and fallen off a few buses too! After 6 years the top is slightly faded and it has a couple of scuffed corners from its falls off bus roofs but still wheels perfectly and converts to back pack. I love the zip compartments inside for organisation. It packs tight with the adjustable straps too so when half full so you don't have things rattling round inside. I have also been able to pack larger items like flippers on the top thanks to the outer straps that clip shut over the case. The only changes I would make to this bag would be to make it waterproof and a lighter frame if possible. 6 stars out of 5!

Perfect in every way!I'm currently looking to purchase another bag for short hiking/kayaking trips, and have chosen to go with Osprey because of my fantastic experience with the Sojourn.
Having used the Sojourn to travel and holiday extensively throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia for the 3 last years, I can honestly say this is THE BEST bag ever!
- structured back and sides makes for easy, more organised packing and offers good protection (I recommend using packing cubes too!)
- soft top flap allows for even more packing space and is especially helpful when trying to pack obscure shaped items (i.e. lamps, small carpets, balls etc :-P)
- large zip opening allows you to easily find what you need without having to remove all of the contents of your bag
- numerous zip pockets/compartments are extremely useful
- The wheels are sturdy and manouverable, even on rough, rocky terrain.
