Levity 45

Perfect
I love him i have the 60 and 45 because they are just perfect

Me and my girlfriend we are very happy users of Exos 58 and Exos 48 (mark I) backpacks, we love them for their breathable and very comfortable mesh back panels, large side and front mesh pockets, and many little tie outs, compression straps etc. And as we are downsizing our hiking equipment I was delighted when the new Levity was released. However I got a little disappointed when I got to try one out. Just like the new Exos 2018 (mark II) version I am missing the hip belt pockets. I know it is some extra weight but we find them very useful for all those small bits like trekking pole tip protectors, compass etc. etc. OK, we could live without them but I would find it very useful at least if they were available as an optional extra piece of gear to buy.

But what I am missing much more are the side and front mesh pockets (just like the EXOS mark II backpacks that have less mesh than mark I). I believe there is a reason why you decided to make Levity side and front pockets from rigid fabric, but it stopped me from getting the Levity packs for us. The “old” Exos I mesh pockets hold everything in its place safely. Each side pocket is big and strong enough to carry even 2pcs of 1,5L pet bottle (we regularly carry just one in each pocket but sometimes you need to carry more water). And the front mesh pocket is more importantly perfect for all the wet pieces of wear and gear allowing them to dry out while walking.

I am sure you are doing your best when releasing new backpacks or new versions of the old ones. I am also sure you have experienced hikers to test them in advance. And I am also well aware there is no backpack that meets everyone’s expectations. But it there was a perfect Osprey backpack for me it would be the new Levity with side and front mesh pockets, hip belt pockets (even optional extra piece of gear would be fine) and also I would find it great if some extra straps of the same color were available for example for strapping a sleeping mat outside the backpack when needed.

And I also dream of Osprey back pack with roll top closure… but I can happily live without that :-)

I will keep my eye on your web side time to time and maybe one day :-)

A good pack but some niggles
This is a great, lightweight and very comfortable pack that seems durable with the right care. However, I found there were some niggles for me and I had t ask many questions at Osprey. The compression straps don't seem that useable I think elasticated straps would have been more useful and I couldn't get them to work in a useful way despite asking Osprey for help. I think they need to do a video if this is to be deemed a useful function at present. Sack falls over onto its front so you need to be mindful of this, and I could not alter the sternum strap - again I had to ask and apparently is moveable however its very tight and I feel like the buckle wont go over the small hoops so have not managed to adjust this as yet. I think if there was a bit more support and information for these basics that would be good. The niggles and lack of knowledge available keep me from giving it a higher rating.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Jus,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Levity 45.

We have taken on board your feedback regarding the adjustment of the sternum strap and we are working alongside our Videographer to create a short video tutorial to help users with this specific feature. However, in the meantime, we are more than happy to make a short video for you to send via email, showing you how you can adjust your sternum strap.

In terms of the compression straps and the pack falling over, sometimes this can be helped by the way that the pack is packed. To help you, we have a handy Packing Guide that you might want to take a look at. I'll also pass on all your feedback to our Design Team for consideration as we're always looking for ways we can improve our products.

You mentioned requiring some assistance with a few other features - we have a Levity Owner's Manual that we think you would benefit from. Alternatively, you can always get in touch with us directly by emailing care@ospreyeurope.com.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service
