I purchased this backpack for use on my adventure this summer. I'm an American and i was going to spend two weeks walking around Spain and I wanted a bag that could handle as much as I could. The Farpoint 55 was up to the task. I carried it with me through the streets of Madrid, Barcelona, and Pamplona. The day pack is the perfect size for a laptop and makes for a great carry on bag. My favorite part though is the fact that it unzips all the way down. I lay the bag down flat and load it like a suitcase. It makes for easier packing and easier access to the items stored in the mesh pouch. All in all it's a good bag, I have no complaints. Thank you Osprey.

Love that, as a vertically challenged girl, there is a choice of sizes. For once I have a rucksack that fits my back perfectly. The size is fantastic. Yes, it's too big to take on board the plane but it's ideal for a few days hiking about. The small bag on front is secure....I have had to bin 2 others in the past due to broken zips where the small bag has been ripped away.
Padded side handles are a bonus when the back straps are tidily zipped away.
Delivery and ordering took no time. I'm generally very impressed.
Not been used a great deal so not sure of longevity. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

I was looking for a good backpack for 1month backpacking trip across the Thailand (during rainy season)
During packing I was literally blown away with all practical solutions and quality of this product. On my trip I discovered even more of them!
I highly recommend it to every backpacker or anyone who is going for any holidays! It is the best value for the money - do not ever bother to look for anything else. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Great bag. so functional and practical whilst backpacking because its a 2 in one backpack and daypack. Some more inside zips rather than just 2 would be better but apart from that I can't say anything bad about it. I would just very closely look into what specific trip you are doing. If it's city touring, backpacking, short non-intensive camping trips and short out of town stays this is a great product. Anything more low key or extreme maybe a different product will do (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Bought this for a number of reasons: first the quality is tremendous, easy to keep safe and secure with a small lock. Secondly, the detachable daypack is perfect for travel as when exploring or even just a day out it fits all the essentials, while also adding valuable space when moving everything onto the next destination. It's also very comfortable to wear for prolonged periods when need be with multiple straps to make it fit most shapes and sizes, lastly the size may seem small compared to other travellers but it can certainly fit a lot in and you become the envy of other travellers with massive backpacks struggling along. Overall a fantastic purchase. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

This review was left for a previous version of this product)

I ordered blue but was delivered green.
That was the only downside to this purchase. The Farpoint 55 is perfect for the long term vagabond. Very handy for planes as it is small enough for carry on (I have not once been asked to check it yet and i have had it on around 8-10 airlines so far).
It is big enough for everything you ought to bring (I take my laptop, camping gear, clothes and electronics) whilst small enough that you cant be tempted to bring too much. There are two types of travelers, those who carry light and those who wished they'd carried light.
Plus the quality is second to none. Feels like it was tailored by fate for the traveler. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Assolutamente consigliato! (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Very stylish pack, but with excellent practical features. It fits comfortably even when fully loaded. Easy access to contents. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

I had spend a long time on researching and considering which backpack to get for my planned around the world trip. I narrowed my search down to that I wanted a 45-55l bag with front opening rather than top opening. Also the ability to lock the bag with a padlock was a requirement. The detachable day pack is a brilliant feature. I have now been travelling for over 1 month and I honestly don't have any negative to say about this bag so far. For me it's more or less the perfect bag! The amount of stuff I have been able to fit into the 40l main bag has surprised me. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Es una maleta fácil en todos sus aspectos. Encuentro que le faltan compartimentos de organización. No hay que olvidarse, que tiene mucha calidad. Las cremalleras, son muy resistentes. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

The farpoint 55 easily caters for a weeks worth of supplies/clothes being deceptively roomy. The compact design however means stowage on public transport is never awkward. It easily slots into over head storage and has side handles to manover the bag. Unlike a conventional backpack is opens in a chest-like manner allowing quick easy access to all your belongings. Secure internal straps hold your clothes and shoes in place, preventing them from ruffling etc. the bag is superbly comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the straps hold the pack tight against you meaning running isn't an issue. The zip off day sack on the front is the jewel in the crown. It's comfortable and high volume (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

I honestly love my Osprey backpack. I use the small backpack day-to-day and the big one for traveling or when I need to carry lots of stuff. They feel like they can carry their weight and are proper waterproof.
My only issue with this bag, which is also the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that the frame that keeps the bag sturdy at the back makes it a bit unsuitable for. I still take it with me because it just about fits (the smaller size here!), but I usually feel a bit unease because it could be a bit too long because of that frame. If they would make the format of the bag more hand-luggage friendly, 5 stars! Otherwise awesome bag and would buy again! (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Thinking of buying this great multipurpose backpack. But REALLY need to know if it comes with a rain cover ?
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Thomas,

thanks for your question. Our Farpoint packs do not come with an integrated raincover, but we do sell them separately on this site. We'd recommend a large raincover for the Farpoint 55.

I chose this over the larger 70 model because I did not want to have a bigger/heavier bag to lug around. I am only 5'0 tall so larger bags would be too big for me.
I travelled 3 months with this bag and it is perfect.
- Zippable & lockable main compartent & back harness reduces stress at airport check-ins (some airports/airlines insist the back harness straps are out of the way)
- Lightweight material does not add unnecessary weight
- Just enough space for basic necessities without over-packing
- Flexible/stretchy material just when you think it is not possible to squeeze in yet another piece of clothing!
- Daypack is very spacious and is where I put my valuables and carry it at the front
- Bag is durable but yet not too luxurious (as compared to models like Wayfarer) so it made it less heart-breaking when the bag is thrown around by third parties (think crammed public transportation in 3rd world countries) or when having to put bag on dirty/dusty surfaces
- Best of all, other travellers I met were envious of this bag due to all the abovementioned points !! (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

I'm currently using this backpack on a 6 month trip around South America. At first I was in two minds about whether I wanted a proper hiking backpack or a Farpoint but I think I made the right decision as it's much easier to pack with the front zip. It's pretty durable and comfortable to carry around.

My only criticism is that the daypack is too small and not really fit for day hikes and biking. In hindsight I'd probably go for the Farpoint 40 and buy a separate daysack of at least 25 litres to carry on my front. The bag is also really unstable if you zip the daypack on the back and you just topple over.

Other than that, I'm really happy with it. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)
