Farpoint 70

For where wheels won't go. The Farpoint 70 is our lightest travel backpack yet. Featuring a zip-away spacer mesh ventilated backpanel, the Farpoint can be carried like a backpack but packed like a suitcase. The strong and durable backsystem means you can carry your gear comfortably when travelling between hotels, the airport or beyond. Cushioned carry handles on the top and the sides allow you to easily grab the travel pack off airport baggage carousels. Your gear is readily to hand, with the inclusion of a large zippered lockable opening that allows access to the main compartment. The compression straps are also used to attach and secure a 13L 'zip and clip' daypack, which includes all the organisation, you'll ever need; a top stash pocket for electronics and sunglasses, dual side pockets and a laptop sleeve. The daypack can also clip onto the harness of the main pack, in a 'kangaroo' style attachment. This provides a very secure way to carry your daypack when you want to keep your valuables or tickets to hand. Inside the main cargo bag is a mesh pocket ideal to separate dirty clothes and shoes. Internal compression straps fully maximise the capacity whilst securing your gear. For overnight trips attach a sleeping pad to the lower external straps. With all the organisation and clever features you need, it's time to share your next adventure with a Farpoint 70 backpack.

All Round Travel System
Bought it to support a city/beach/high altitude 6months trip across the Americas. Very spacious main travel bag that easily fits a guy’s clothes for a week plus long pants, winter jacket, thermal wear, gloves/ hat, etc. Love the day pack which fits my MacBook Pro, my passports, cash, keys, underwater housing (compact camera Canon G7x), my pro SLR (Canon 5D) and two heavy lenses fifty 1.2L and the 17-40mm f4 L. It’s a very versatile combo. Highly recommended.

Totally recommended
I totally recommend this backpack. I used for my month trip to Japan in it works great. The perfect space, resistent, and confortable. I love you can detach the small bag for a day trip, and the the fact you can hide the straps is perfect for check in. Excellent backpack.

Excellent sac

Pratico, capiente e senza compromessi
Consigliatissimo.

Very flexible - great for all sorts of travel
I bought this for a trip to SE Asia last year, so it's seen planes, buses, trains & streets. The day-pack is a brilliant idea - it would help if it had another pocket though (phone, passports/docs to hand - the tiny outside pocket is just a bit limiting). I find I use the mesh pockets for sunglasses etc - but these do not feel secure enough. On the whole though, it's a brilliant idea and I used the day bag a lot. Being able to zip the straps away for putting into the hold is excellent - no worries that it's going to get shredded.

Moving on: I work away from home quite a bit, and use the pack to travel on the tube when in London. It's perfect - I use the day bag on the mainline train to have my valuables to hand (main bag in the luggage rack), then (because I'm taking less stuff than when on a major trip), the day bag can sit inside the main pack for the tube part of the journey. It's just short enough that you can stand on a crowded tube train with the pack between your legs so you're not using up loads of room.
When going to/from work during the week, the day pack is plenty to carry my laptop, phone, chargers, waterproofs etc.

Because I often throw the daypack inside the main pack (rather than zipping it on and off, which is a faff when you're just jumping off a train) it would be really useful to have at least one external pocket on the main pack to throw last minute things in (or keep waterproofs to hand etc). I think someone else mentioned this already.

Moving on again: I have also used this when staying in a couple of more upmarket places (conferences etc) - zip the straps away and you have a nice looking holdall rather than a rucksack (not that this really matters, but it's nice to be able to do this).

The fully opening top is excellent - combine this with some packing cubes (e.g. the amazon basics ones are great) and packing/unpacking/finding-stuff is a two minute job.

Overall though, it's a flexible, well-thought out system - just a couple of extra pockets would make it perfect.

Molto soddisfatta

Excellent backpack system
I just used my daughter's Farpoint 70 for a trip to Japan. The day bag is brilliant, so I can't see why anyone would complain - it has a great little compartment for sunglasses/camera etc and internal pockets to keep things separate. That said, it's a 2015 bag and I read that the daybag has been "improved" since then and by the sound of it not for the better, so I'll have to check carefully. The facility to stow the straps on the main bag and use it just like a suitcase in effect was brilliant for stowing on reduced height train luggage racks. I was so impressed that I am definitely buying one for myself for my next trip to Chile in Autumn.

Good travel pack
I purchased this pack for travelling South East Asia and Australia, the main pack is a good size and it worked well, my only issues are with the detachable day pack. Firstly is a good size to carry the basics and it great to clip it to the main pack and carry in front of you, pocket wise it has a Velcro closing laptop sleeve and another zipped pocket for a tablet inside the main compartment and then a smaller zipped pocket on the outside, I think it could have done with an additional organisation pocket on the outside somewhere for documents like passport, Wallett etc and RFID safe, but the main problem I found was the mesh water bottle pockets being not stretchy, this meant that when you used the pockets it would reduce the internal pack capacity and if your pack was fully packed, you couldn't use the water bottle pockets

A great pack for travel
I recently upsized to the Farpoint 70 after finding the 40 a little too small for my needs. The 70 has a lot of room in the main pack and can be cinched down when carrying lighter loads. It is worth pointing out that the 2016 model has some changes, especially to the daypack. The daypack is now 13 litres and no longer has the waist strap, the earphone/hydration port or the ability to stow the shoulder straps behind the back pad which are shown in some reviews of the previous model. I was initially a little disappointed in this but after asking Osprey about it I can see the logic of a slightly smaller daypack to keep the weight balanced when attached to the main pack. The ability to stow the straps is perhaps the biggest loss, but it probably makes very little difference in use. It is good that Osprey has an ongoing development policy, and they do think things out very well.
There is one minor issue I have found with both Farpoints I have owned where the top back corners of the main pack get very scuffed quite quickly on airport luggage belts and I think the design could be further improved in those areas. Overall, still one of the best travel packs around.

Great backpack, brilliant storage. May rip.
This backpack was brilliant. I used it a variety of times throughout last year, it lasted through 47 degree heat and monsoon seasons so it was definitely trustworthy. The bag did rip on the front which was an annoyance but does not alter the fact that this is a great bag. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Hiking use
Overall this is a great pack for hiking!

It's light, has the connections and straps you need and all tucks away when flying or during transit. I used this bag to hike Kilimanjaro and the french alps. Was perfect.

Though my advice when using this bag is purchase some light weight packing cubes!! Makes life a lot easier.

The only thing i'd change about this bag is a additional inch width that could be utilised by a zipper. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

perfect for travels

Sooo worth it
For backpacking around, moving quickly from place to place - this bag is unbeatable! It is strong, stands up to a lot of wear and tear, great quality, the detachable day bag is a great size, not too small for everyday use or even for week trip minus big backpack.

Great back support, so comfortable! I will miss it when my 12`month RTW trip is over.

Will definitely be a repeat customer for a smaller, maybe 50L backpack for trekking/hiking. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

A great product
The functionality of this backpack is the best I've seen. It is so easy to use thanks to the high quality of its design. Both the large pack and the detachable day pack are very comfortable, I tested this whilst walking around rugged terrain in north wales. Can't wait to take it globetrotting! Only just received as a Father's Day present.
So far REALLY impressed with the clever and innovative design. It's has been designed with comfort in mind. Very clever options for the small extra day bag to be attached to the front. All the straps can be zipped away so,they don't get yanked off or caught in any transportation. Looking forward to give it a further review after using it for a while.
(This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Simply amazing
I just returned from my 2 weeks Italy trip, the reason I bought this backpack. It was simply amazing.

The amount of clothes it can feet and the amount of feature the backpack has just payed the value.

Be able to detach the small zipped backpack, to dispatch the bigger one in the airport, to use the handles and able to cover the should straps was 5*.
I mostly used the small backpack linked in the front, to balance the whole body properly. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)

Duradera y flexible
Perfect for backpacking
I backpacked in Indonesia for 3 weeks, travelled with both plain, car and boat and this bag was fantastic! It was easy to find my things and pack up the next day because of the zipper. The small bag I used for trekking in the jungle. The only thing I missed was a little more space. It would have been great if the bag were a lift bit larger. Awesome
I am going traveling and needed a strong bag that will hold up for a few years.

I was recommended this type of bag by a few fellow travel buddies and when I checked out reviews online this bag come up trumps every time.
I have yet to actually use the bag I got (I will be in a few weeks time though). But it's amazing. Extra side pockets, padding on your back, the day bag that detaches and that it opens up like a suitcase is just awesome. It makes trying to pack everything easier and finding things even easier! I love it!! If you thinking of getting one but put off by the price...don't be! It's worth it and more. (This review was left for a previous version of this product)
