Versatile Tardis of a rucksack
Having read the other tw reviews on this site, I found them a little niggly and unfair.
In my experience this pack has so many well thought out compartments and uses that i have recommended it to several other similar users. The various compartments are very versatile:
- the labtop space has become the default for electronic equipment or items I'll feel least through the cushioning,
- the bottom zipped compartment is used for carrying trainers to the gym and worn clothes bag in a poly bag;
- the zipped pocket on the lower rear of pack keeps my gym padlock,
- the upper zipped mini pocket has room for spare headphones, glasses cloth, spare batteries, and phone
- The front zipped compartment has a variety of zipped and open pockets that I can squirrel either fitness, photography or cycling gear with ease, along with notes or a paper,
- The main comparment will take enough clothes for a long weekend or a reasonable daily shop at the supermarket,
The weight never seems to be loaded in one place, the waterproof cover is a quick on and off where needed. The helmet clip is in the best place if you are changing modes of transport, on top could make it too heavy, although, I would like two clips as I often carry things for two of us cycling. then both can have hands free.

Good, but could be better.
I am quite happy with the bag, but at the same time i do have some "complaints". First off, when bicycling, it stays on good, and doesn't really feel that heavy on the back even loaded with stuff. And i do like that i can fit quite a lot of stuff. However, for some reason, when just carrying it normally, it doesn't feel that comfortable like i would have liked, and that is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

I don't have that much to compare with, but i would absolutely recommend it as a backpack for when going on bicycle rides to and from work for example.

Ok - Osprey should had done better
Momentum 32

I use this pack for 3 month now, not on a daily basis, but often, and just returned from Germany using as my day pack.
Understand this backpack was designed for bike commute, but it should be possible to be used a a day pack while commuting to the office and not as a “messenger” bag.

While the main compartment is spacious, with or without the secondary compartment used, the very strange side pockets and compression strap design limits the performance and usefulness of the pack.
Due to the compression strap the lap top compartment has a limited opening, the compression strap does very little and can not be called a compression strap and the side mesh pockets seem to smaller, even they look bigger than on the Comet 32.
The open mesh/nylon design not only limits the stretch and after two uses the mesh is already broken (a normal water bootle - the Comet has the same problem - the mesh quality seems to be a lower quality standard as the rest of the pack & the pack was not overloaded) but it also limits the use of the very small front compartment.
The front compartment is poor - the zipper pocket for wallet etc is very small, the two mesh pockets are deep but the top elastic is too loose an items easily slip out.
There is not single pen holder.
Change the questionable side mesh pocket construction, and add the front organiser from the Comet and we got a nice 27/7 bag.
Not easy to keep the pack standing upright.
The top carry handle looks and feels thougher than the one on the Comet - I prefer the Momentum 32 version/construction.

The carrying straps with the elastic are nice addition and make a heavy load easy to carry.

All in all the main compartment and the elastic carry system are the plus of the pack, laptop and front compartment are an addition, but less useful than on other Osprey packs.
The side mesh pockets - not sure if I wanna use them while riding a bike - afraid of things falling out - The don’t look convincing

god bag but some design oversights
There is a metal zip inside the laptop sleeve (for a smaller pocket) which almost gauged a scratch across my laptop. I would not have been happy if it had.
Helmet clip is a good idea but puts the helmet on the back which just gets in the way, i.e. in shops and on packed trains. Probably great in the country. I think it needs to sit on top. Loose, long straps. Top shoulder adjustment elastic sticks out 10cm. My back is cooler using a courier style bag but that maybe just my back.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hello Tim,

We appreciate your feedback and I will be passing it on. However, the stretch Load Lifters on this pack can be adjusted; please refer to the product videos. As for the placement of the LidLock and the internal zip, we will get this looked into.
