Ok bag but not everything I hoped
I, like the others on this site, had a real problem with the side pockets. Even a larger nalgene would fall out, and definitely smaller bottles and cans. I also found the straps to have less padding than I would like, particularly compared to other Osprey backs. Finally, I'm 5'6, but I found the torso of this bag to be too long, meaning I had to pull the should straps uncomfortably tight in order to keep the bottom of the pack from rubbing against my tailbone. Pick your poison. Love the color selection and the multitude of pockets, but the other issues are dealbreakers for me.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Andy,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Daylite Plus.

We are sorry to hear that you feel the side pockets of the Daylite Plus are too small. These pockets have been designed to hold small water bottles up to 500ml, if you would like to carry more water than this, the pack is compatible with all of our Hydraulic Reservoirs, and has a dedicated external hydration sleeve for the reservoir to be placed.

We appreciate your feedback on the padding of the straps of this pack and the fit of the torso length, I will ensure this is passed on to our Design Team for reflection as we are constantly looking for ways to improve our packs.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service

Good, with some design flaws
I have this pack for app 9 month now. Its either used in addition to my Porter 46 or if a smaller pack is needed, to as substitute to my Comet 30L.
In general I like this pack.

The main compartment is big enough for most occasions, day trips, shopping, office etc.. The build in sleeve holds my MacBook Pro 15 with a build in DVD drive.
Any other laptop that is thicker, could be problem.
The zipper on the other hand gets easily caught in the rain flap very often. This is annoying, especially if the pack is not fully loaded.
The front organisation pocket is roomy enough for a sun glass hard case, wallet etc and the two mesh pockets are convenient as well, hence I would like to see a the elastic is a bit tighter as items tend to slip out if the pack is not standing vertical.
One or two pen slots would be a nice addition.
The vertical zipper pocket on top of the kangaroo pouch is useful for smaller items - nice.

Not sure why, and I had noticed that on my Comet 30 and Momentum 32 as well, especially in winter if you wear gloves, why the zip puller have two different sizes? The puller for the main compartment are larger than the puller for secondary compartments are smaller.
Keep them one size, the bigger one.

The side mesh pockets, as mentioned by other reviewers, are pretty useless. Nothing really stays in there. Understand the pack come with the option for a water bladder, but this is not always an option if you like to place something else in there - umbrella for example.
The top elastic is way too loose and there are not singe straps to tighten it up.
If I use it, its only for items I don’t mind if I loose them, tissues etc.

The front kangaroo pouch is the second short fall of this pack - its very small not much fit in there, definitely not the second layer as shown in the product video on Osprey’s website and items can’t be secured and risk of falling out.
Again, this pouch is hardly used…..if then for empty packaging etc.
With the compression strap closed, and they need to be closed otherwise the kangaroo pouch is tangling loosely, the opening of the main compartment is limited.
To comfortable get into the main compartment at least one compression strap need to be open.

In addition, it would be nice to just have a webbing loop to hang the pack and internal zip pocket for a wallet.
The materials had been proven durable and despite some of design flaws, this pack will not be replaced soon.

Good bag held back from being an excellent bag due to design flaw
The Pros: extremely lightweight, comfortable to run in, inside compartment can be used for loose documents/paper without being creased, I like how my 13" macbook fits into the hydration bladder section!

The Cons: The mesh pockets on the side are near useless, for water bottles/small umbrella and in one instance a can of soft drink! I understand there is a back panel for a hydration bladder, but it baffles me as to why the side pockets were not made from the stretchy material found in my other Osprey bags.

Overal: A good back prevented from being an excellent one.

Perfect in every way except mesh pockets!
Agree with other reviewer regarding mesh pockets.
I first used my bag for a week of skiing. Very comfortable, although needed the chest strap to keep it on my shoulders - possibly due to bulky ski jacket?
I put a health bar in one side mesh pocket. Getting up from a seat someone handed me the health bar - it had dropped out!
When home, I put a 500ml bottle of water in the mesh pocket. When I got off my bike - there was the bottle in my back basket!
Rang Osprey and it was suggested to go back to Ultimate Outdoors.
They swapped the bag - but it seems that all packs have the same very slack elastic on the top of the mesh pockets. The elastic has hardly any stretch in it whatsoever! Very disappointing.
UO are returning it to Osprey to show them that the elastic means that the mesh pockets are not fit for purpose.
I suggested to Osprey that I might thread some stronger elastic through the existing useless elastic.
Osprey thought this might help. I'll give it a go...... but it shouldn't be necessary.

Nice pack
I borrowed it from a friend. It's a really nice pack. I like the size and that you can attach it to the bigger backpacks. But the side pockets won't hold water bottles. They keep falling out. For me that really is a problem. I would have bought an own one, but the side pockets are a problem.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Natalie,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Osprey Daylite Plus. The Daylite Plus will carry a water bottle in the side pockets and the compression straps help to hold these in place, however, they can't accommodate all size bottles. The Daylite Plus does have a hydration sleeve so we recommend using a reservoir for easy access to water instead. If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact care@ospreyeurope.com.

Kind regards,
