It's a great bag. Many great solutions. Very comfy. Hip pockets hard to open by one hand tho. It squeaks terribly! Don't know where this noise is coming from, but it is quite disturbing. Is there any solution for that noise?

Everything about this pack is amazing. Everytime i feel my back not touching the pack itself it just wows me. The air circulating i feel that buying this pack was the best choice i have made in a long time.
Richard
I just used the AG65 on a 8 day Yellowstone Park backpacking trip. I had hoped the hip pockets wouldn't be like other Osprey packs and would work, but no. 2 hands needed to do the zippers up, which made them useless as I had to take the bag off every time. I have the AG50 too and the pockets are bad on that too. Stretchey mesh again very easy to tear on a twig when walking through forest.

I think I will miss Osprey out on my next backpacking purchase, hopefully they will sort out these hip pockets and mesh, everyone moans about the same things, don't know why they don't listen.
Osprey Customer Service,

I took the Atmos AG 65 on a 14 day hike across the Swiss Alps. It provided ample space for all equipment and has numerous pockets for easy organisation and quick access to your gear.

The outer fabric was tough enough to put up with abuse without marking or ripping. One small complaint is that with the pack fully loaded and a coat jammed in the pack panel, it's almost impossible to get the rain cover to completely cover the side panels of the bag.

The AG system is a nice idea. I'm not sure how much it really impacts the feel and comfort of the bag. But this bag certainly is comfy. I had little to no rubbing.

Great bag for medium to long hikes!

Just got a new pack to replace my Variant 52, which I have been using for backpacking for the last couple of years since an old Lowe Alpine became too uncomfortable. Very impressed with it apart from a few issues. There needs to be an internal small pocket (used to be under the lid on others) for small odds and ends, and documents etc. I cannot fathom the logic of taking something usefull away. The hip belt pockets need two hands to close as the slider sticks. The straps on the hip belt and chest are very long and when cinched up leave a lot of strap flying about in the wind. There needs to be an elastic loop to secure the ends. The pull cord main compartment top closer has a very fragile knob, which fell apart the first time I touched it! The sleeping bag separator needs to be detachable, the space allocated at the bottom from the zip is too small to allow use of a rolled up compression dry bag containing the sleeping bag, so is unused hence the unneccesary separator. Not sure of the relevance or need for an adjustable hip belt, another unnecessary complication and potential point of failure( see Mark below). I haven't touched this as the adjuster straps are more than adequate and already too long anyway. But very comfortable to wear with big loads. A size in between the 50l and this would be absolutely ideal, 50l being a bit small and 65l too big (I used a 52l for years with a couple of dry bags strapped to the sides).
Mark
A very comfortable pack and the side pockets are excellent with side entry allowing a bottle to be stored and accessed easily while on the move. Unfortunately though the velcro has failed on my second pack now where the needless on the fly waist adjustment is. It basically fails to hold and leaving you with the weight on your back, not ideal when on day 1 of a 14 day trek! 1st pack done exactly the same. If the pack had fixed waist band it would be perfect but this second failure makes it unsuitable for use. I also met another walker who had the same issue. A real shame Osprey.

i took the 50 liter version with on a trip to soderåsen in sweden and it was amazing to use but it became a little itchy if i had a belt on, but it was still a amazing pack im only a kid on 14 years and i the medium one fitted perfect and my little brother who is only 10 can also use it so it is a geat pack for all sizes and ages
Julian
good quality construction, good materials and AntiGravit système which emphasizes comfort and ergonomics for our back.

This system Atmos AG evolved the old system of "air Quechua Forclaz Air cooling system called" It is also an excellent competition for the new Gregory Baltoro.

Cons of osprey Atmos AG:
However I must say that we need access
side of the backpack for entering the inside.

- Thermo sealed zippers need to avoid water filtration especially in the pockets of the belt.
- Belt pockets are a little small, Osprey should be more generous and They should put more big pockets a little more because they are very fair, we paid 250 euros !.
- Lack a pocket front or laterial to organize small accessories.

conclucion:
Despite the negative aspects, overall quality and comfort of this atmos AG is very good and especially materials. I leave a link detailing the construction quality système AntiGravit Osprey.

Good trip!
Steve
In my review I have to differentiate between the AG system and the pack itself.
I ordered the Atmos AG 65 online based on the good reviews here on the Osprey site. And in what the new Anti Gravity system is concerned I can only repeat what many other users posted before me. It really does feel like as if gravity is only pulling half as strong on the pack as it does with other models. The 17kg I was carrying for 5 days in a row only felt like an easy 10kg throughout my hike. So I'd give full five points for the AG system. Great invention! I only hope that the mesh fabric is robust and long lasting.

Nevertheless do I think should the people, who will also order online and haven no chance of checking it out before buying, know about some of the issues of this pack that I noticed during my experiences with it.
The biggest problem I had with this pack was that it has no access to the main compartment from the front as you find it on the Aether 70. I don't understand how the developers at Osprey could leave away such an essential and important feature. I know that Osprey focuses a lot on weight reduction which I appreciate a lot, but not if its at the cost of such an important aspect of functionality. Besides there are two very long 'torpedo' pockets with zipper at the front that could have easily been turned into a main compartment zip without adding extra weight. Because the two pockets are not as helpful and practical compared with an access zip to the compartment, in my opinion. How many times did I miss the J-shaped zip of the Aether when I needed to grab something from the bottom of the pack.
Another thing I am missing on the Atmos is a hip strap on the main lid, as you also find it on the Aether. Why would you make the lid detachable if you can't strap it around your hip and wear it as a hip belt? Those extra 30-40g of a textile band and a plastic buckle would add such a great additional feature. Very unfortunate.
Otherwise the quality of the fabrics and the workmanship of the seams and zips are the usual high quality I'm used from Osprey.

So all in all I can give full five points for the AG system and the quality, but only 3 points for the pack itself as there are two important functional features missing.
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Steve,

Thanks very much for your feedback, we are glad to hear that you like the AG backsystem. Your feedback about front access and the top lid will be passed on to the correct team for review.

Tamer
Well what can I say? Being a bit of a skeptic I didn't think that the Atmos could possibly be that comfortable. After ordering it and loading it up I was amazed. It does really feel like almost no weight on my back. I also have an Aether 70. I have to say there is quite a bit of difference in comfort although the Aether is very comfortable as well. The materials used are just oozing quality which is great. I am a bit concerned about how long the actual AG will last as the mesh parts look quite delicate. I feel like I will have to be extra careful not to damage it so that the AG system doesn't fail (if that could ever happen).

Now the one thing that I cannot understand is that there is no waist/shoulder strap for the top lid. In the Aether I loved this strap as that meant I could carry some important items while going on a short a hike from a campsite. The Atmos doesn't have this and I am kind of baffled by that. I am not sure how important it is to other people but for myself that's an important thing missing from the pack. But yes all in all a great pack. I'll look forward to using it for a long time.
Stuart
As an experienced trekker/hillwalker, admittedly getting on a bit now, I thought I would treat myself to a new pack. I didn't fancy the alien green, or the red colour, so had to search a bit for a supplier of the graphite grey, so lost out on possible savings.
On its arrival, I set out as soon as possible for a day in the Brecon Beacons, and have never had such a comfortable carry before now.The hip belt seems to hug you and almost makes shoulder straps redundant. Everything about this pack oozes quality and comfort. A brilliant back pack.
Johan
I'm going to use this backpack on a four months camino from Belgium to Santiago next year.
Because of the advise of my friend, I gave my Osprey backpack her name. (Sorry Osprey...)
Thanks T.C.!
After my camino, I'll come back right here and tell more about the Atmos AG 65.
Till then!
;-)
Jan
Used it for 4 weeks travel in Vietnam. Ventilation highly appreciated and in total nothing really to complain. Enough room, good separation and comfortable to carry around. Only thing I do not understand are the massively long main straps. I cannot imagine anyone how would really need this length. Maybe there is some logic behind I don't understand, but being in a rush, fasten the straps and go on you have about 30-40cm dangling around.
Oscar
David
I needed a large pack to complete a couple of long distance treks this summer, including a 3-week hike across Corsica. I chose the Osprey Atmos AG65 based on positive reviews about the AntiGravity backsystem, as I anticipated hot weather during the trek and I desired comfort. The pack exceeded my expectations, particularly in the way it felt fully loaded (12kg base weight, and 15-17kgs with food and water). I traversed some tricky alpine variants on the GR20 in Corsica and doubled up some stages to make some long days (7+hrs). Throughout, my pack was comfortable, well ventilated and functionality was perfect. I highly recommend the Osprey Atmos AG65 for long distance trekking.
Olivier
Herald
Went for a 2 week hike through Eastern Europe. Had several weather types from scourging heat to whole days of rain. I had clothes and extra's to use every day one whole week. The pack wasn't full I didn't need the internal string that can be used to fasten the load. I ran with the back and walked al days with it on me without any problem. I really loved the breathing system on the back!
Martin
Klare Kaufempfehlung
William
I used this rucksack for a backpacking trip in Fiji.
The bag has a large useful capacity and is very comfortable to carry.
I would thoroughly recommend this bag.
Alasdair Stark
Just finished the West Highland Way in Scotland using this pack. Walked 96 miles over 5 days carrying everything needed to wild camp each night. Even on the last day the pack was extremely comfortable and not causing any pain on my shoulders or waist. Couldn't ask for better results.
Simon
Alex
Incredibly comfortable rucksack.

The detachable top section is incredibly useful. The way the solid hip straps fold out of the way makes it easier to transport the bag around (flights, car journeys).

The breathable back is very impressive and effective. Build quality is obviously extremely high.

Pockets are well placed around the bag, with the two on the hip straps being particularly useful.

Instructions for adjusting the back length could have been clearer, but I worked it out in the end. The top-most toggle is a bit unintuitive.

The straps are grey. Everything else is green and orange. Graphite green might be a better description.
Nikolai
This is the best pack I have ever had. It is perfect in every way and is actually a lot bigger than the photo makes it look.
It can hold any weight and you really can't feel it!
I read another review which said that the main compartment's toggle was difficult to undo, I understand which one they meant but I had no problem with it, and the whole bag, whatsoever.
Great bag, you must get it!!!
Dominqiue
William
This bag is brilliant I had an osprey Kestrel 68L which I out grew so I brought this bag as soon as it came out, looks brilliant very comfy. The only thing I think could be improved is the toggle that closes the main compartment. It is very hard to use the toggle when in a hurry so I undid the knot and took the cord out and replaced the toggle with another toggle that was the same as the toggle on my old bag and just left the other one dangling. So over all extremely nice bag and the only problem was easy to fix but I would definitely recommend this bag.

1st pack done exactly the same. good quality construction, good materials and AntiGravit système which emphasizes comfort and ergonomics for our back.

This system Atmos AG evolved the old system of "air Quechua Forclaz Air cooling system called" It is also an excellent competition for the new Gregory Baltoro.

Cons of osprey Atmos AG:
However I must say that we need access

I feel like I will have to be extra careful not to damage it so that the AG system doesn't fail (if that could ever happen).

Now the one thing that I cannot understand is that there is no waist/shoulder strap for the top lid. In the Aether I loved this strap as that meant I could carry some important items while going on a short a hike from a campsite. The Atmos doesn't have this and I am kind of baffled by that. I am not sure how important it is to other people but for myself that's an important thing missing from the pack. But yes all in all a great pack. I'll look forward to using it for a long time.

Till then!

Klare Kaufempfehlung

I used this rucksack for a backpacking trip in Fiji.
The bag has a large useful capacity and is very comfortable to carry.
I would thoroughly recommend this bag.

Just finished the West Highland Way in Scotland using this pack. Walked 96 miles over 5 days carrying everything needed to wild camp each night. Even on the last day the pack was extremely comfortable and not causing any pain on my shoulders or waist. Couldn't ask for better results.
