Excellent lightweight pack for multi-day trips
Lightweight and very well designed. Lots of useful features - the outside mesh pocket is particularly good for storing a waterproof jacket. Feels much bigger than 44l - loads of room.

Best pack I’ve ever owned but..
Just used this to climb Mt Blanc. Extremely good pack for mountaineering. Nicely thought out re pockets and straps and very comfortable. The pack is so light weight which is key at high altitude. However my only slight disappointment is the stretchy mesh outer pocket. I unfortunately used it to carry my crampons. And despite them being in a fairly thick bag they still managed to wear a hole in the mesh. I’ve had to since hand stitch it up. Can Osprey reinforce the mesh pocket or devise another system for carrying crampons? The bag otherwise has everything else covered - places for ice axe, poles, rope, water etc.

    Excellent Pack
Used recently for a 4 day hostel-to-hostel mission in the Lake District, UK. Carrying no sleeping bag, but was carrying camera and gear. Very lightweight pack, comfortable even when loaded up and breathes really well. The Airscape backpanel is great. The seamless wrap around hip belt is great. The shoulder straps are good. The pack is well laid out. The trekking pole storage is good (2 different options). Love the stretchy mesh pockets on the outside - can get water bottles and maps in and out quickly and easily. Like the hipbelt pockets - although they could be a touch larger in my opinion, it is a bit of a squeeze to get my phone in there. Shame it doesn't come with a waterproof cover, had to buy one separately, but not too upset about that. On the same trip my friend was carrying a Kestrel 48 (the older style bright green one). Compared to the kestrel this one is far lighter (and you can really feel the difference). This one is also far more breathable in the straps, back and belt. Other than that they are very similar. I think if your load is likely to be nearer 10kg this is easily the better pack. If your load might be close to or over 20kg maybe the Kestrel is better.

    Perfect

    cool
I bought this backpack almost 10 years ago (it had a bit different colours - light grey bottom). It simply cannot be killed. I did 28 days trekking in himalaya without porters with it, I climb with it, I take it for short trips. It can be small, it can be big. It is light. I am amazed with its durability. The only disadvantage I see - it is very dirty after 10 years.

    A top Performer
I bought this pack about a year ago for some long field work, and it hasn't dissapointed me.
It fits very well, is comfortable with heavy weight over long distances and up steep slopes plus looks pretty good and has almost perfect storage imo.
However it only earns four out of five stars; to me it suffers from ocasional over strappage and I find it sometimes takes slightly longer than I want to undo and redo all neciesary clips. Furthermore, I occasionally find the smaller top most shoulder fastening buckles (is that the name) get caught in the hood of the rucksack and will loosen themselves fully if the hood itself isn't properly tightened, after I discovered this I just made sure the hood was tight and everthing was place before setting off and it's no problem. That said, it is THE BEST piece of outdoor gear I have and has been a worthwhile investment! Looking forward to more trips with it.

Probably the greatest pack of this size I've ever owned! Amazing weight-carrying for it's size, easy to pack, nice featureset and it's cool looking too
I use the Talon 44 every day as a daypack... while it's a bit on the big side for that purpose, it does well enough, and I'm able to log a bunch of stuff along, while also have spare space for grocery shopping at the end of the day. If you're getting this pack for commuting purposes, the 33 liter will probably be better suited for most people. There's also a 22 liter version, but I prefer the lid-closure mechanism found on the 33 and 44 liter versions.

The hipbelt offers an surprisingly amount of support, and the shoulder straps are also quite comfortable, more so than what you'd expect when noticing their thickness.
There's two small zippered hipbelt pockets, two large side mesh pockets, and a large front mesh pocket. It's relatively easy to retrieve a water bottle from the side pockets without taking of the bag, because there's a opening along the rear side of the side pockets... my shoulder flexibility is the limiting factor for me.
The mesh pocket at front is large, and easily contains a jacket and other misc. stuff.
There's two compartments in the top lid, and I think they provide ample space for most needs.

There's also an opening near the bottom of the pack, like what's so often seen in bigger packs which sports a dedicated sleeping bag compartment... the separate compartment is missing here, which is fine considering the pack-size of just 44 liters. I haven't used it much, but the few times I needed it, it was nice that it was there.

I also own the Exos 48, but greatly prefer this bag... It's much more comfortable once you load it up with some kilograms!
It's also quite all right for bicycling, which is important to me, as I live in Copenhagen and bike everywhere within the city.

This is likely the best commuter/weekend trip backpack I've ever owned, and I'd recommend it to everyone in a heartbeat.
