Durable, light and versatile! Had mine for 4 years, used for everything and still in good condition.
Ive used my Talon22 for 4years. Its been my backpack for highschool and university. Ive filled it to the brink with heavy books and used alot of force on the zippers and i still it remains in good condition.

Ive also used it as a backpack for hikes, ultra-distance races and cross-country skiing and it preforms well. If you pack smart you can fit alot of stuff in it, its camelback option is great. Its light and can be adjusted well to fit my body while running.

Only critisism: In very heavy rain it may leak through a bit, but ive almost never had a problem with this.

Strongly recommend it!

Superbe produit.

Excellent - in dry conditions!
I agree about the excellent quality, confort and features of the bag as expressed in virtually all reviews. However, I had expected a little better water resistance from the basic bag. It seems necessary in prolonged wet conditions either to pack sensitive items in individual plastic bags or to purchase the rain cover - a little disappointing!

Toller, leichter Rucksack

Talon 22 - a great bag
This is by far the best day bag I have ever had, and I've had plenty.
I've travelled the world, well off the 'beaten track' and I must say this bag is fantastic.
It's light, has a great harness and fits really well once you adjust it to suit your torso.
The number of pockets is right for me too.
We (2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 and 13) just got back from travelling in Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia Hertzgovina and this was our favourite bag to carry our essentials (Passports, water, money and coats) for the day as we wandered around from our base.
The build quality is also great.
I've nothing bad to say about this product. It is the best designed and functional bag in its category by far. 5 stars all the way.
However, (this is a small thing, but in the way of positive feedback) I believe Osprey could do a better job at identifying all the features which are on the bag, what they do and how they are adjusted etc. While I had a great time working them all out, identifying and describing them better to a potential buyer through the website could land the deal.
Well done Osprey, a master class in fit, form and function!

best backpack for ages
Hi,
after having used quite a few backpacks over the last 30 years or so, I've got to say that this one is a real treat, whatever you'll use it for. I use it as a daypack to work as well as for hikes. the fit is excellent and the weight helps when carrying my camera gear along. I gave it a try after having beenfallen in love with its bigger brother, the Talon 44
Admiral
Room for the Raincover
Not using a hydration bag, I use that clip to secure a D ring I sewed to the top of my high viz rain cover. It then tucks away where the hydration bag woulds have been. When it rains, it can be easily pulled out, and covers the rucksack (still clipped, which means It can never blow off in high winds). It doesn't occupy any space "in the rucksack", and is always easily deployed without opening the rucksack. I can recommend this arrangement to anyone who does not use the hydration bladder.
I would have given this rucksack 5 stars, had it had more "attachment points" for fixing "extras".
Osprey Customer Service,

Hi Admiral,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Talon 22.

This seems like a great idea, we're pleased to hear that it really works for you and that you find it useful. However, we just wanted to comment that, adding additional webbing, attachment points and straps to this pack will only increase its overall weight. The Talon is designed to be super lightweight and therefore, we did strip back on some of the smaller features and any additional webbing to keep this pack as much below 1Kg as possible.

I have passed your feedback onto our Design Team for future consideration.

Regards,

Osprey Customer Service

Excellent pack
There's nothing not to like. Bought this to do Yorkshire three peaks challenge, and didn't even realise I was wearing a pack for most of the walk, despite it being fully packed. Just absolutely wonderful to wear. I also bought hiviz rain protection as another reviewer--Steven--recommended, but disagree that XS is a better fit. Fully packed, the XS does physically go over the pack, but the drawcord is strained to maximum, which would decrease it's longevity. Even though the 20-35l version is baggier, it is the correct size for this pack. Note that a tight rain protection will eventually allow heavy rain to seep through to the pack but a baggier one will not. I've had several packs over the years, the last one being a Haglöfs Corker day pack, but this is the best one i've ever used.
Steven
I recommend XS sized raincover for previous model
I have recently purchased the previous version of the Talon 22, not sure if the update is just cosmetic. I originally purchased a small sized hi-vis raincover (20-35 litre), but found it far too baggy for the Talon 22, there was masses of excess material. I have since changed the cover for the XS (10-20 litre) version which is a much better fit, even with the rucksack well filled. The rucksack itself is great and comfortable to wear.

Very comfortable
I love this bag. I can fit about anything I want in it for cycling / walking day trips, its extremely comfortable and very light weight. It has a number of handy pockets and the water pouch part at the back is easy to use and very handy. The best bag I've ever had.

A great pack but a bit small
The Talon 22L a bit small for my hiking needs. It would be better if there was a 25L version for added capacity (the 33L is a bit too big as I only fill it if wild camping or winter hiking). The Talon 22L does have some good features - the mesh back-system is very comfortable, the easy to remove hydration pack (a must for me), even when the pack is full, the sturdy hip belt is comfortable, though the pockets are not waterproof like the rest of the pack, the stretch mesh side pockets are a good size and the compression strap ensures their contents stay secure. These features make this a really good all round very comfortable hiking back pack. At 6'3" tall the M/L size pack sits very comfortably on long 10 mile plus hikes and when scrambling.
What would make this pack better (for me) would be the inclusion of an integrated rain cover and removable stowage straps similar to those that feature on the Stratos series. Just a shame this pack is not available in 25L or maybe Osprey could upgrade the main compartment to 24L.

Best lightweight small(ish) allrounder ever, but ...
I have 3 of these packs: 2x 22l and 1x the bigger one, and I also bought a Tempest for my daughter. I don't know of another company making better packs, or giving better service. (My first Talon 22 wore out after heavy use ... I sent it back during a trip to the US and in a matter of days I had a new one.) However, it seems to me that the elasticized mesh on the outside stuff pocket and also used on the hipbelt pockets is worse than what was used in older models. My first Talon was replaced because it simply wore out, but I never ever had problems with the mesh. Even after maybe 10 years of use? My new T22 is barely more than a year old, and the mesh on the hipbelt pockets and on the back of the pack already has multiple holes. Maybe its lighter, maybe its stretchier, but it's not tough enough, IMHO. Also not sold on some of the features of the bigger talon, but will save that for another time. Fantastic pack!
