Flap Jack Courier

I recently bought the flap jack as a work bag. It replaced a TNF courier that was showing its age. I really like the organisation inside the bag, very handy. Its comfortable on the back and looks cool. Assuming it has the same build quality as my Talon then it'll be a great pack.
My only negative comments are that I'd like a quick release buckle on the main strap and for the secondary strap to be angled (these are both features on my old TNF bag) -the angled second strap would hold the bag with less flapping when cycling.
Marc
I have been using the Jack pretty much every day for 5 years and found for commuting and around the city it is ideal. It's comfortable and has a deceptively large storage capcity.

Even though it is not a sealed bag it can handle moderate rainfall for an hour or so with little ingress of water.

For the older version, which had twin catches on the front flap, the catches eventually broke after 3 years. I contacted Osprey and even though it was out of warranty they sent me a new set free of charge, no quibbles. Great customer service.

It's time to replace it and I have no qualms about buying another one.
Alex
First of all, I would like to thank the Osprey team for great bag you created. Flap Jack is a really great helper for everyday activity. I like it. Sections, Pockets and all other details really make your caring easier. However, over the shoulder strap is too short!!!! My advice to Osprey: - make the strap longer!!!
Kind regards!
Osprey Customer Service,

Hello Alex,

Thank you for your feedback.

The strap on the Flap Jack Courier is adjustable however, we will look into the length and pass this feedback onto our design team.

I would like to have another version of this bag for men, but in smaller size.

I picked up the 2013 model for my daily work commute bag, and my day bag for travel and it's held up amazingly well. It's light weight, strong, very durable and alot of convenient pockets. The side pocket specifically is great if you have a narrow/tall water bottle. This bag has been all over the world and subjected to the daily indignities of public transit and the ONLY thing that's happened to the bag is one of the pull tabs on one zipper came off, and the OSPREY lettering on the shoulder pad has half peeled away. But that's just minor cosmetic wear that hasn't hurt the use of the bag.

I've been using the Flap Jack since its first generation for pretty much every day. My first bag lasted a good 6 years and I now bought the next gen version of this classic courier back. I miss the mashed side pockets which were great for carrying drinks. But the overall built quality, especially the main access has been improved. Perhaps I would have preferred to keep the zip access to the main compartment as well.
Josep
I Love this courier bag. Very good product. Daily use in my job. I'm veterinarian marine mammals and use this bag in beach in all conditions. I need full space to transport medicines, líquid, and instrumental to Rescue in beach. I never have a similar bag for space and cuality. It's my second house. Into de bag save my personal útillities, phone, agend, penicil, Pen drive, sunnglasses, dress, keys, and more...more.
Congratulations for your incredible Job.

I owned the original Flap Jack Courier in orange (around 2010) and recently bought a new black one for commuting to work (2014). The new version has a few improvements and a few drawbacks

Good points on both:
Tough and durable ballistic nylon fabric exterior, soft interior, strong stitching. Quick adjust shoulder strap - takes less than a second to change from loose (for walking around) to tight (for running to catch a bus/train), all while carrying the bag on your body.
Spacious main compartment. Laptop compartment can fit 15" workstation class laptop easily with room to spare. Useful organiser pockets in the front. Zip closed external side pocket useful for storing water bottle, umbrella, or rain cover (not included).

Improvements over old version:
Bigger zip closed front organiser compartment (simple Velcro closure in the old one), zip closed mesh pocket on the padded divider in the main compartment. Brightly colour interior fabric makes it easier to find things (although I'd prefer another colour to lime green). Small meshed internal side pocket for storing power supplies. Phone pocket on flap.

Drawbacks:
Black is not black. It's charcoal grey. Customisable buckle straps lost their reflective ends
The old version's main compartment had elastic draw cord closure, but it is missing in the new one. That draw cord closure was one of the best feature in the original flap jack courier, it kept your stuff in and suppose to keep water out. I don't understand why it was removed in the updated version. Overall, the missing draw cord closure makes the current model slightly worse than the old version, but it's still a good buy.
