Q&A
How did you first get into Biking?
I grew up on a farm so always rode bikes around the farm with my brother. He would set up little obstacle courses and planks to ride along so playing on a bike was just part of my childhood.
If you had to give one piece of advice to someone starting to ride, what would it be?
Start off with the basics and progress from there. Try to learn the basic skills on the flat ground with a basic bike and keep progressing your challenges. Always ‘look before you leap!‘
What is the most challenging or rewarding race you have competed in?
I think being part of the Enduro World Series when it first started in 2013 was a great experience. The format and discipline was new to the world stage, so for me to come away as the first ever Enduro World Champion in 2013 was pretty special. I had to learn so much that year and really push myself both mentally and physically.
What are your aspirations for 2018?
I am soon to be a mum, so I’m really looking forward to a huge change in my life, and the fun and joy that will bring. At the same time I can’t wait to get back on my bike, continue to be a great ambassador for my sport, get back to competitions and continue to coach. I want to mentor and encourage as many people as possible to get active and find a love for cycling!
