"Great bit of kit, non-leaky bottles and sensible storage capacity for short and medium distance walking. " (Posted on 25/09/2016)
The Talon 6 hasn’t disappointed being really well made and with bottles which so far haven’t leaked a bit (apart from when I was stupid enough not to have closed the cap on a bottle properly – unfortunately no one can engineer out stupidity on the part of the user !!!). Some reviews point out the odd shape of the bottles and complain you cant stand them up while filling, I haven’t found this to be a problem you just have to be a bit organised if you are filling with any extras like juice or goop to go with the water.
Initially I found the pack to be a bit uncomfortable before realising it needs to ride a bit higher up my body than my old pack, lesson here is you need to play with the packs various straps and adjustments and try moving its position around on your body to get the perfect fit. Once you have it worked out its very comfortable to be carrying around a kilo of weight in water plus whatever else you may want to cram in it. Like the Talon 11 its extremely well made, lightweight and well thought out with plenty of space and sensible design.
My only minor criticism of it is a personal observation that I would have liked the waist belt to be a bit wider which I think may have made it even more stable and perhaps even more comfortable but that’s just speculation as I am not a human ergonomics engineer.
I need a lot of water when walking and I have found the capacity of the Talon 6 to be about right for my normal daily walks, I don’t really need the huge storage space although I can see for some of my walks the space will be useful when I am carrying a camera and extra water plus food. For myself I just wanted to get a quality bit of kit that’s well made and the Talon 6 has perfectly fulfilled that.
Summing up it’s a great bit of kit, non-leaky bottles, sensible storage capacity for short and medium distance walking or where a lot of kit is not required and speed and lightness are the priority.
